Several USC football players were involved in a fight this afternoon with non-students around lunchtime at the Russell House, according to sources with knowledge of the incident.
South Carolina coach Steve Spurrier has been told that some of his players may have been involved in the fight.
Athletic spokesman Steve Fink said Spurrier was told of an incident at the Russell House around lunchtime Thursday. Fink did not have details of what occurred or who was involved.
Campus police are investigating the incident, but no charges have been filed, according to USC spokesman Russ McKinney.
“There was an incident involving some individuals who are not students, who came on campus and went into an area in the Russell House and an incident ensued,” said McKinney, who would not confirm that football players were involved.
There were a number of overturned tables and chairs at the Grand Marketplace area of the Russell House, according to witnesses.
