Lisa Horne - Feel free to kiss my crimson @ss
Seems Ms. Horne, who is actually employed as a sportswriter for FoxSports, has taken a degree of umbrage with the Alabama fanbase.
I guess we should be honored we only came in eighth in her list of offensive fanbases. Or something. If nothing else, it's nice to know the interns have upward mobility working for Uncle Rupert.Crimson Tide fans take living in the past to a whole new level. How long has Bear Bryant been gone? They brag about how many titles they've won and proclaim their rivalry with Auburn the greatest ever, but they're on an 0-6 streak in the Iron Bowl. Maybe they're the ones who started this whole "SEC" chant thing; if your team can't win, hide behind your conference's success.

FOH Lisa...
you should change your name, it’s too close to Lena Horne and you couldn’t see her with binoculars…I LOVE the hate…especially when Alabama stays on your lips…

Same List
Honestly, I think every writer has that same list; I have read this same thing, just different writers. It is always Alabama fans live in the past, and ND sucks. Not a single new idea, and I have no idea who this idiot is either.

nope, i agree with kenny, this is crapass journalism at it’s finest. it does nothing than propogate stereotypes and divisions all for the sake of a few more hits.
instead of taking some time to examine the real divisions between various fanbases and why they might exist the writer simply grabbed at the low-lying fruit and didn’t give a shit if it was valid or not. her only validation is that she’s a sportswriter for a major media outlet. it’s called being lazy and there’s no excuse for it if you are being paid to pen this shit.
which is why i tend to keep to blogs like this where folks craft interesting analysis and come up with entertaining ways of looking at our various rivalries and peculiarities. want to see how to eviscerate a fanbase in style? point your browser here, my friend.

seems we are not the only folks who think this little piece of “journalism” is trash. there’sa snarky entry on deadspin today (i know. contain your shock) outlining how some florida fans are calling for a boycott of the site for blasting both the florida and florida state fanbases. sayeth the sports addict:
Is there any logic in how Fox arrived at this conclusion? Not as far as I can tell. And it doesn’t even appear to have even a scintilla of evidence to back up the specious claims. Florida "lives in the past and never shuts up" quotes the FOX posting. Huh? What kind of nonsense is that? Their quarterback won a Heisman Trophy and the team is just two seasons removed from a national title.

Stop
referring to this as journalism. Sounds to me like yet another member of the Old Media who doesn’t know the difference between the front page and the editorial page. Not to mention most of these people stink of bitterness because people who make up the New Media have surpassed them in terms of writing talent, insight and credibility.

it is journalism. and so is RBR. i can promise you todd, horne and bob woodward all passed the same certification exam to practice this endeavor. and FoxSports.com is new media as well, albeit one with the backing of a very large traditional media company behind it.
designating someone as a journalist or no and then specifying the exact medium they work in doesn’t address the main point – crap writing is crap writing, no matter what type of or whose mastead you are doing it under.

Journalism
is defined as “writing characterized by a direct presentation of facts or description of events without an attempt at interpretation.” Again, this is pure editorial and a useless one at that.

Living in the past
“The past isn’t dead. It isn’t even past.”
—William Faulkner
"I've been crowned the king of it,
And it is all we have so wait,
To hear my words and they're diamond sharp,
I can open it up and it's up and down."

By me?
Should I expect a call from the Faulkner estate?

no. but it’s constantly used to indicate a situation involving those who insist on living in the past. in requiem for a nun, the utterance is clearly referring to the past’s tendency to affect people’s lives in the present. there is a vast difference between the two.

Ah crap
I just realized I wrote, “The past isn’t dead,” instead of, “The past is never dead.” Same basic meaning, but you know, wrong. Damn you, Faulkner!!!

Jealousy and Envy
Jealousy and envy are the absolutely ( without a doubt ) two greatest forms of an oppositions greatness and success. She is tired of hearing about the Tide and the Bear because the Tide and the Bear rocks and will never stop rocking.
