Think UGA is gunning for #1 now?

Wow...just watched the end of the USC-OSU game...who would have though tthat the 2nd OSU would get USC?

Do you think that UGA will be salivating at the thought of clawing back to #1 in the polls?  I sure hope so...because USC lost that game in the trenches...plenty of skill; short on motivated beef on the line.  I think Bama has that in droves.  Let's hope the boys come out firing on all cylindars in the trenches!

Check yourself -- WE are gunning for #1

If we win this Saturday, we will be the ONLY team in the top ten to have beaten two ranked opponents; and the ONLY team in the top ten to beat two teams that were ranked in the top ten. IF we win, and that’s still a pretty big if, there will be no other team with a better claim to the #1 ranking than Bama. Aight?!

Pressure . . .

is part of the process. Aight? Have a Little Debbie Oatmeal Cookie, they’re good for your heart.

Note also that . . .

three of the teams ranked ahead of us — Oklahoma, Florida and Texas — have not yet defeated even one ranked opponent. However, Oklahoma does play a ranked opponent — #24 TCU — this Saturday.

I'm stunned...

…to say the least. I thought sure USC would run the table. You’re right Spock-I don’t even want to THINK about the pressure, and whoa-I’m actually going to be there. #1-I can’t wrap my brain around that concept. A bloody mary should help or 2 or 3 or…..

alabama suddenly is playing a game as an underdog with nothing to lose and the other team is staring at a precipitous free-fall if they flub it. that’s the LAST time anyone should want to face this team.

just ask tommy bowden.

with the USC loss georgia now HAS to win this game to keep it’s MNC hopes alive. in a weird way, the blackout suddenly isn’t a stunt. it’s a very shrewd motivational ploy to keep players focused on what has suddenly become one of the biggest games on the bulldog’s schedule.

i still have serious doubts about the depth of our team this year and that’s going to show up in tight, hard fought contests that go to the final minutes – which is what my hopes are for this game. but if we beat them or even play them to the wire, then the nation should be on notice, not for this year but for the beast that is going to come for them NEXT year.

I was wrong!

There i said it. It doesn’t come very often so you better write this one down. I bought into USC as the best team in the country and boy i couldn’t have been more wrong.

Go ahead and laugh…..

Yeah you did

two threads of you defending USC, but, hey, its all good. Usc just screwed you, man. You gave them your heart and soul and they just crapped on your dreams.

Nah, I’m just kidding. They looked like world beaters the first two games – BTW, who has TWO bye-weeks the first month of the season? – but I think this loss reinforces my point that they would not survive an SEC schedule. If you get beaten by the likes of Stanford and Oregon State, imagine what a good SEC team could do to them?

OSU

beat them at home in 2006 also, the “invincible” USC had 2 losses that year.

So guys, does this hurt or help our cause? Or is there no effect?

by Bens4vcobra on Sep 26, 2008 9:44 AM CDT reply actions

It helps...

…every team in the SEC with visions of playing in the big game(s). What looks better, a one- or two-loss SEC champion, or USC with a loss to Oregon State? Maybe USC in the two-loss scenario, but it’s not a given.
