A few other games...

Auburn looks like they should take it to UT with no trouble, as expected. The Vols just look terrible, period.

Unfortunately, Texas is hammering Arkansas. I was hoping they would show themselves to be a bit better than we thought, but at this point the Hogs just look like a very bad football team.

by outsidethesidelines on Sep 27, 2008 3:51 PM CDT reply actions

UT...

….is awful. How is Crompton a starting QB in a BCS league?

by Todd on Sep 27, 2008 3:53 PM CDT up reply actions

More importantly...

How in the world could anyone have considered this kid a five-star prospect coming out of high school?

I think, honestly, that shows you more just how terrible Tennessee has been the past 7-8 years at developing talent than it does anything about the recruiting services. Hell, every program in the country would have loved to have had Crompton, USC included.

by outsidethesidelines on Sep 27, 2008 3:57 PM CDT up reply actions

Missed field goal...

Barner Byrum just missed another field goal, this one a short 35-yarder. That would have given them a 17-6 lead, but not yet.

I tell you, the Auburn special teams were consistently as good as any team in the country for years on end now, but that has seemingly come to a change. The special teams has been screwing them over left and right so far this year.

by outsidethesidelines on Sep 27, 2008 3:53 PM CDT reply actions

And...

You would think Auburn could consistently snap the football to the quarterback under center. I know they run mainly out of the gun and everything, but hell that’s usually not even a problem with pee wee football.

Has anyone...

been watching the Notre Dame and Purdue game? I see they’re tied up at halftime…just wondering if it’s really been that close in the first half.

How about Ole Miss whipping the Gators?!? I love it!

ND v. Purdue...

Purdue was controlling the game early with a 14-7 lead, but Notre Dame has pretty much handled them as of late.

The Irish just scored, and it’s now 28-14.

by outsidethesidelines on Sep 27, 2008 4:58 PM CDT up reply actions

Touchdown Tennessee...

Hardesty just scored on third and goal going around left end on a toss. 14-12 now…

Going for two… throws a short out route coming off of a pick, it’s completed, but he gets stood up easily outside the one.

It’s 14-12 Auburn.

by outsidethesidelines on Sep 27, 2008 5:00 PM CDT reply actions

Hate to say it, but...

Texas is thumping Arkansas so bad that it’s making our performance against them look not all that good.

Last week we thumped Arkansas by a huge margin in a fairly closely played game thanks to about three terrible plays by the Hogs, but Texas is just eating this bunch for dinner.

Going into the late third quarter, Texas leads Arkansas 45-3, and it’s just total domination. The Hogs ran the ball fairly well against us last week, and also protected the quarterback pretty well. Not so today. At the moment, the Horns have held them to -8 rushing yards, and have sacked Dick five times on just 14 passing attempts. Moreover, while we had struggled to throw the football, Texas has been incredibly efficient throwing the ball so far today… 19-21 for 200 yards, 3 touchdowns, 0 interceptions, 0 sacks.

Again, I hate to say it, but after watching what the Horns are doing to the Hogs today, our performance against them last week doesn’t look all of that good.

by outsidethesidelines on Sep 27, 2008 5:05 PM CDT reply actions

Speaking of those passing stats...

Last week against Arkansas we went 6-15 for 74 yards, 1 touchdown, 0 interceptions, and 1 sack. That’s a quarterback rating of 103.4.

Today Texas has gone 19-21 for 200 yards, 3 touchdowns, 0 interceptions, 0 sacks. That’s a quarterback rating of 217.6.

I’m afraid that’s the difference between a good passing game and a mediocre-at-best passing game.

by outsidethesidelines on Sep 27, 2008 5:22 PM CDT up reply actions

Maybe

the Hogs have no confidence and are getting beaten down more and more, week after week. That’s the way I prefer to look at it right now.

by TexasTideGirl on Sep 27, 2008 5:58 PM CDT up reply actions

Three and out...

Three and out for the Barn, and the 87,000 are getting restless.

I swear, this Auburn offense looks terrible. I had previously went on the record several times saying that the Auburn offense had gotten so bad under Borges that Franklin was going to be improvement by default. I was wrong. It’s clear that, at least to this point, the Borges offense was more productive even in its withered state.

And Tennessee just got a huge punt return, and now they are driving deep in Auburn territory, trailing 14-12.

If Auburn loses this one, Barners everywhere will go nuts, and rightly so.

by outsidethesidelines on Sep 27, 2008 5:07 PM CDT reply actions

Tennessee...

Seriously, this shitfest of watching the Tennessee and Auburn offenses compete is just unreal.

After getting the ball at the Auburn 36 to start off, Tennessee goes three plays for negative two yards. On 3rd and 11, against a blitz, it’s a quarterback draw.

Even Shula is digusted with this.

Florida lost…?

RBR's KING of HIP-HOP...

by SpockJenkins on Sep 27, 2008 5:45 PM CDT reply actions

Yep...

Florida was leading 17-7 at halftime, but Ole Miss turned it on in the second half. They went up 31-24 with a long touchdown run, Florida scored in return, but missed the PAT. Florida got the ball back, drove into Ole Miss territory, but Tebow was stuffed on a fourth and one with 50 seconds to play.

by outsidethesidelines on Sep 27, 2008 5:46 PM CDT up reply actions

It's over... Auburn wins...

Tennessee can say hello to 1-3.

Auburn played like pure shit, and their offense is laughable. Tennessee is just very bad. This may very well been the worst conference game I’ve seen played in a long time. Basically Tennessee just out-sucked Auburn.

That will be overlooked,

but it was a great play to stay with the ball and break that up.

We need the ball...

There will be two onside kick-offs, all we need is to get the ball on one.

Where do we go from here?
  1. is a gimme with Florida, USC, and Georgia all losing. Do we go higher than that?

Roll Tide. Great win, everybody! 5-0!

Man what a game

I only wish we could have kept them from scoring at the end, but they are too good a football team. Major props to the Dawgs for the heart they showed, and major props to our boys for finishing and not giving up when they were tired and momentum looked like it may shift.

we don’t see those black jerseys again.

Man

Those TD’s where junk at the end. UGA fans better not try to say..hey you only won by 11. Fth that! We dominated that game besides about 8 minutes of it.

Time to prepare for Kentucky

With a 5-0 record! As much as I’d love to start thinking about Atlanta and BCS this and that, thinking that way is probably counter-productive. Besides, I have no problem enjoying this season one week at a time. What a game.

Roll Tide!

So true

The fans have to take the same attitude as this team and coaching staff. One week at a time! Starting thinking down the road and shit starts falling apart!

Great game guys and another signature win for this VERY young team…

RTR!!!

That 2nd Half...

…was the best thing that could have happened to us from a coaching standpoint.

That 1st half was the best thing that could have happened to us from a football-related orgasm standpoint.

Now, let’s stop talking about Kentucky…we’ve got 23 more hours to celebrate….

Saban was just at the ESPN desk

with Fowler & Co – he said this was his favorite kind of win because they got the W and he gets to yell at them for letting Georgia come back :) This season, while needing to be played one game at a time for sure, sure does seem to be turning into something special.

by Nose Guard on Sep 27, 2008 10:56 PM CDT reply actions

this is exactly why i love him as a coach. as bender would say – all the haters can bite my shiny metal ass.

You corrected yourself, but I think you got it right the first time. I don’t trust the voters to put you over OU this week, but any Georgia fan can tell you that Alabama is the undisputed #1 in the country right now. You guys have got a bad rap for inflated expectations for a long time…right now, though, I think such expectations are definitely warranted.

A word of caution, though…don’t let the same thing that happened to USC and Florida and us happen to you too. …Not only would that make our loss look worse, it means there’s less of a chance at a rematch in Atlanta.

Great win. Your team deserved it.

Classy...

…note, as expected from a fan of our favorite SEC East team (except for maybe Vandy). UGA’s fight in the 2nd half showed they are fo’ real. Go win the rest of ’em, UGA…especially vs. those three teams in orange.

I lived in GA for a while

and (hold on to your hats) I would go into a bar with multiple t.v.s and never had a problem getting the Bama game on at least one of them. Georgia fans are football fans first. Good folks all around (sorry to my cousin Collene, a Junior a UGA who will get a call from me mid afternoon Sunday- I love her but she talked shit at a family wedding last April.)
We will be #4 tomorow at least. Even Don Shula is thinking that we made the right change about now.

If it were up to me, I'd blitz on offense too.

by The Heffalump on Sep 28, 2008 1:28 AM CDT up reply actions

good game, good team

Georgia showed up hard in the second half and they’re certainly a helluva team. If LSU taught us anything last year, it’s that a SEC team can drop one or two to a fellow in the conference and still go big, and the Dawgs can likely do that. We held Moreno, but he was always just on the edge of busting out.

Also, I am today trademarking the Horrified Georgia Crowd Reaction Shot. There were about two dozen in the first half alone.

Good game, Tide. You made my month. I haven’t been this keyed up since 1992.

Never quit. It is the easiest cop-out in the world.
