"I really enjoyed my time at the University of Alabama, but I think it is the right time for me to move on to the NFL," Coffee said on Friday afternoon. "Alabama has been a tremendous place for me to develop as both a football player and a person. I couldn't have asked for a better group of coaches. I want to personally thank Coach (Nick) Saban and Coach (Burton) Burns for everything they have done me."

Upon further reflection (and reading y'all's very persuasive arguments in the comments section from yesterday), I think I'm finally getting the decision. The prospect of running behind a line that's missing an All-American LT, All-SEC C, and a senior RG with loads of starts, plus splitting time with Ingram again (and likely one or two of Trent Richardson, Roy Upchurch, Terry Grant, Ivan Matchett, Tremaine Preyear, and Demtrius Goode) would probably make me want to take my chances in the draft now rather than risk seeing my draft stock fall (or injury, for that matter). I'm honestly still a little shocked though, since you just don't think about juniors leaving early unless they are a lock for the first round (a la Andre Smith). Anyway, best of luck to him in both the draft and the pros. Pittsburgh, if you're reading this, Willie Parker can't stay healthy and you know you need another solid between the tackles runner with good open field speed to compliment Moore. Give me one more reason to pull for the Steelers!

One more...
Don’t forget Jeramie Griffin. I’d guess that right now he’d be the #2 back after Ingram, considering Upchurch’s injuries.

Also...
…with the possibility of an offensive philosophy shift should Star Jackson prove he’s ready to be the starter over the spring, we might not see as many carries for the backs.

Star is the wild card
If there’s one thing that could take pressure of our developing O line, young WRs, and stable of RBs, is a QB who can run and pass well. As always, you hope he learns to run through his progressions, read defenses, etc. But man, you can’t coach speed and evasiveness and it gives even good defenses that one extra wrinkle that’s so hard to prepare for. This is the scenario I’d like to see play out, for sure.
