Early Rivals.com 2009 Preseason Top 25

Way too early for this sort of thing, but Alabama is a pre-season top ten (#8). It's nice being back in the spotlight, isn't it?

we play the number 7 team in the nation right off the bat
then later we have the #1 gators
but by the time we play LSU they will probably have 3 losses but dont worry look on the brightside yall should have a good game against AUBARN you know in the game that has about as much of an affect on the polls as the ole miss MSU game!!!

Our days of...

…sneaking up on opponents is gone, but that is a GOOD thing. I’m really looking forward to the Va Tech game, since I lived in Virginia most of my life and most of my friends either went to Tech or UVA. We need to avenge our most recent loss to them in the 1998 Music City Bowl. They beat us pretty bad 38-7, but we had won the previous 10 meetings, including a 77-6 beatdown in 1973, in which we set some incredible school and SEC records that still stand.
From rolltide.com:

The Crimson Tide set records for most total offense (833), highest average yards per play (11.9), most rushing yards (748) and most extra points (11) in the win over Tech.
All four remain as school and SEC records today. In addition, Alabama pulled off another feat in the win over the Hokies as four Tide players rushed for 100 yards in the win, including Jimmy Taylor (142), Wilbur Jackson (138), Calvin Culliver (127) and Richard Todd (102).
