Alabama beat Auburn in gymnastics Friday night by the score of 195.675 to 195.650. What makes this especially noteworthy is that it extends Alabama’s winning streak against Auburn to 96.

Because
“S” the coach, “W” the president, “S” the Streak, etc. etc. are really, really lame.

You
know honestly, when I first saw the “S the coach” sticker I thought it was Steve Spurrier. I just didn’t think ’Bama fans would do that… then I remember the “got shula?” shirts and remembered that yes, some of are in fact that lame.

The barn is not known for their gymnastics
they’re known for their women’s swimming and diving teams.
And bestiality.

That’s right…a lot are Australian, I think. At least, that’s what I remember from this past summer.

Has there been any other streak like this?
I know gymnastics is a bit different since we have meets with Auburn 4-6 times each year (the streak is only 20 years old), but has there been any record of this kind of dominance of one school over another in other sports? Either by time or by meetings?

FWIW
That slim a margin, even in gymnastics, is essentially a coinflip, and was the slimmest in the entire history of the streak. Celebrate if you like, your side won, but this would be the equivalent of this year’s Auburn football team getting stopped on the one-inch line on the last play of the Iron Bowl down four.

yea but the end result in both of these
is Alabama won and the barn loss, so still looks good to me brother

Leave
it to you to create positive out of next to nothing. And comparing a subjective sport such as gymnastics to football is a pretty ignorant comparrison.

There ARE "S the Shutout" stickers
And some of the women swimmers are American at AU. The men’s swim team (more Americans) is even better than the women’s. However, when I was in law school at UA, we ruled the SEC in swimming. Don Gambrill was the coach and had rock star status in the swim world.
