I guess your 5th best team is better than our 5th best team….but that’s a huge victory for the Big 10. If you could ever beat OSU (aka SEC whipping boy) maybe you could play one of the big boys in a real bowl instead of kicking off before most of America even wakes up on New Year’s Day!

It was kinda hard for us to beat OSU this year because they weren’t on the schedule. But if you’re going to base your entire conference supremacy argument on a team’s bowl record, you have to admit that, year in and year out, Iowa is much better than your entire conference.

Well, a big part of it is in B'ham and on the sideline with an injury.
We’ve always played great O while we’re ahead. This is something new for us. I’m hopeful that we will show some “pluck and grit” and make this a game we can brag about.

Get back to what you do best….run the ball. If you turn into a Big 12 team and pass every play, you have no chance. There is plenty of time – a 14-0 second half wins the game for you. That is Alabama football.
As a Bama fan im not TOTALLY shocked. you lose the best o-lineman in the country, AND his back up, and thats gonna kill your running game. when your running game gets pwnt, it really sucks when 50% of your passing game comes off of the play action.

weve adjusted well as far as play calling offensively
as evidenced by the fact that we’re on an 11-0 run right now. furthermore it could be 21-17 if tiffin made his kick and whats his head didnt pull a false start. thats on the players, i know theyve been coached better
defensively we’ve yet to see a whole lot to give me any confidence coming out of half time

will not be a factor in this game simply because Utah doesn’t run the type of plays Cody defends. Using their spread scheme, Utah and Florida actually make a player like Cody a disadvantage for our defense.
We need to keep our focus and not panic. Eleven points is not a terrible deficit. Skigator93 is right. We have not had any success this season passing when the other team expected us to pass. If we drop back and throw it forty times, we will lose.

This game reminds me
of the West Virginia and Georgia Sugar Bowl from a few years back. We look complacent. Like Barry Switzer said, “Alabama looks like they want to be in the Orange Bowl, while Utah looks like they want to be in the Sugar Bowl.”
I was pissed from the very beginning because I thought this was a bad draw for us. Utah had everything to gain, we had everything to lose. Utah could come in with a chip on their shoulder, play the us against the world angle, and pull out all the stops.
The one thing we couldn’t do was make mistakes: starting with Andre’s suspension, we’ve made many.
Look at the bright side. We’re only trailing 21-10. Not an insurmountable deficit, but we need to come out like gangbusters in the second half. Utah has our attention now. We have to play like it’s a 0-0 game and Utah pissed in our corn flakes last year.

the big play was there for us several times and we missed it when JPW couldnt deliver the rock or protection broke down or a receiver missed the play.

I’ve watched Bama play before this year and Utah is kicking Bama’s ass right now. No team has done this to Bama, not even Florida. The missed tackles are because Utah actually has some guys that can play. Bama’s run game has stunk, which it hasn’t done in a long time. It amazes me no credit can be given to an undefeated Utah team, simply because they wear U-T-A-H on their jerseys.

I wonder if anyone else noticed how dirty the play was when coffee got hurt. It was overshadowed by the interference penalty on th eplay coffee wasn’t even in the play, but this defensive guy grabbed him and twister him by the neck and shoulders.
i saw one very late hit
and one obvious case of taunting. both incidents in the first 5 minutes of the game. though the only unsportsmanlike flag i saw was thrown on marquis maze for a completly unknown infraction. (it wasn’t apparent live, and the crack production staff at FOX thought us viewers would benefit more from pictures OF their camera, than by viewing pictures FROM their camera, so no replay was shown.)

this is EXACTLY why the AP reserves the right to choose a different team. Utah had a good OOC schedule and was undefeated, and backed it all up by handing us our asses. if the 1 loss 2003 usc deserved to get voted in, then this undefeated utah team does as well.

jean pierre wilson…. yeah the O-line didn’t give him much help, but that first INT was vintage JPW circa november 2006 and 2007.
i’m gonna give him a bit of credit. he took eight sacks and was pressured all night. nobody ever really expected him to carry this team to victory just not screw it up. tiffin and just about any given person in the secondary cost us as many points as jpw last night.
JPW did have a much much better second half
but that first pick was god awful. at first i thought maybe his target zigged when he shoulda zagged, but after watching the replay, he looked to be throwing the right flat, and just floated it to the safety right over the middle….. tiffins 2 misses were huge, seemed like utah only got one PI penalty on them out of 5 or 6 obvious occurances, and it was a play where they used it to prevent a TD from being caught, we settled for a FG attempt. so that one PI flag didn’t even help us. and yeah the “tackleing” by our secondary would have made moscow ballet company proud.
We learned to throw it away in the fourth quarter when it can't help.

I feared something like this as soon as I saw this game announced. Utah came in extremely excited and hungry. We came in with our heads down. Andre’s uncle acted like a moron, our defense looked like it didn’t have a clue.

as disgusted as i am with this result – it was a complete failure at just about every aspect of the game (sans arenas and coffee of course) i still am very proud of this team and what it accomplished. as much as this loss and the one to florida gall, we have to remember we were slated to be an 8 win sec west also ran at best.
our depth problems and youth finally caught up with us at the very end of the season. but this is a group that has shown it’s got the ability and desire to win at the higest levels. i’m not expecting this game to derail that progress.
so, while i’m pretty amazingly miserable right now, i still gotta say Roll Tide and thanks to a team that gave us all an amazing season to remember.

…that’s rediculous. we played terribly tonight and a lot of our flaws were capitalized on by a well prepared utah team. it’s a tough loss but it’s no reason to make a statement like that about this team. we lack depth and it finally showed these last two games. we lack experience and paid for it when the scrutiny got the hardest.
but like we bounced back from the ULM loss we’ll bounce back from this as well. we have a talented team, a great coaching staff and an ardent fanbase. let’s not lose focus of any of that because we feel like shit after this loss.

…12 win team is like saying you’re ugliest playmate of the year. 12 wins, no matter how “bad” the team may be, is an accomplishment. I’d rather be the worst 12 win team in the SEC than the best 9 win team.
again… what’s the point? we lost two key games. but we had an amazing season that nobody really expected. we weren’t supposed to win nine games much less 12 and dominate the SEC west. stop whining about what we didn’t do and focus on what we did do.
yes, we lost this game badly and it sucks like living on a planet of suck orbiting the suck star in the universe of suckitude. but that’s no reason to dismiss everything that has been accomplished this year.

I should be a lot more pissed then i am….i guess because the loss means nothing. Losing to UF was so devestating cause it cost us a chance at the NC. Losing to Utah though embarressing isn’t all that big of a deal to me. Now we have something to build off of for next season. Something to motivate the players. Im sure we will take a step back but rest assured the process is going at full strength and one day it will be us hoisting the trophy!

no, this loss means a lot. and it’s something this group needs to remember if they earn the right to play in a new years’s bowl in the future.

though about the florida loss having allready taken it out of us. once we dropped that game, the season was kind of over, at least the primary goal was gone. i am not embaresed to lose to utah. i’m embaresed that we didn’t show up. but what bothers me most is that we lost to florida.
here’s to next season and to the O-line gelling quickly. and to lorenzo lawrence lving up to the hype, and to BJ scott and mark barron.. and to andre smith deciding to come back for a national title.
Was it just me, or did it seem 1) they NEVER threw Arenas' way 2) if they did, he shut it down, and 3) coffee is a man.

If i never see Kareem Jackson play another snap for the Tide ill be a much happier man. He was picked on two straight games. How many missed tackles did that man have? And they always seemed to come in the worst possible moment…..I cant’ wait to see what some of these freshmen can do!

I still have to say Roll Tide. And also, thanks to all the people who posted here at RBR throughout the season. Y’all got me through many dreary northern days and made me feel as if Sweet Home Alabama wasn’t so far away. The only thing is that RBR probably had a direct impact on my GPA as it was an escape during boring classes. Anyway, Roll Tide and lets get ready for National Signing Day and the 2009 season.
