Hello reality, its been awhile...
Well guys and gals I don't what to say, I'm speachless. So I'll let some players and people who covered the game speak for me.
First up Terrance Cody:
"We weren't ready for them," Alabama nose tackle Terrence Cody said. "They took control of the game and that's how they set the tempo. I was stunned."
Utah's Brent Casteel
"We smacked them in the mouth early and took their fans out of the game," Utah wide receiver Brent Casteel said. "They probably didn't know what hit them."
Does that sound familiar? (Clemson, Georgia anyone??)
Another Ute, Sean Smith had this to say:
"Maybe they were upset that they weren't in the national championship game," Smith said. "But you just don't go out and play like you don't want to be in the Sugar Bowl. I don't think they expected us to come out firing on all cylinders like we did."
I was one that did expect it Sean, however, I couldn't have imagined that my team would come out barely firing on four cylinders.
And some stinging words from Gentry Estes that sums it up pretty well:
"My take on a late night in New Orleans?
Lest this Crimson Tide program get too full of itself after a 12-0 regular season, its final effort will sting for a while. This was a humbling experience, and it could have been avoided.
Underdog Utah was fired up and prepared to play, and perhaps for the first time all season, favored Alabama was not."
Ouch but true...
And this from Nick Saban, maybe bringing us all back down to reality:
"The seniors did a great job for this team," Tide coach Nick Saban said. "But we need to continue to improve as a program for the future. We need more good players, more depth in the program. We need quality big people. We need quality skill guys. We need a lot of things for us to continue to improve to be the kind of program that is recognized as kind of a dominant program on a national level."
We all knew this to be the case two years ago, but somehow, 12-0 has a way of making you forget.

Great post Ben
On the upside, this has given me renewed inspiration to get back on my diet and workout regimen full time. No more wings and beer. I got up at 8 and went to spin class. WIN!

Yes
Definitely a reality check for us, but hey, i say, if we are two years away… 13-1 next year, and 14-0 in 2 years sounds amazing to me… it is also a good feeling to forget how bad losing feels…

Its
scary to think where we would be had Andre not decided to play football for the Tide. It was foolish for some of us to think we were on the same level as Florida, USC, Oklahoma etc.. when they have had years of program building when we really have only had 1 1/2.

its not foolish
we almost beat florida.
talent-wise, we were good enough to win. we failed ourselves mentally, and I doubt we do that again any time soon. i expect bama to win the west again and play florida again.
im not impressed with your performance

Andre should be ashamed of himself. Yes the loss doesn’t rest on his shoudlers (im looking at your Jackson) but this actions didn’t help

when JPW goes from not being touched all year on his blind side
to getting hit 3 times in the first quarter from the blind side and 2 major penalties on that LT side, its going to f with him. Jackson, Smith, thank you-im sure glad u guys showed up to play or cared more about urself than the team.

I was stunned to see Jackson in late in the game
he was just terrible and dont get me going on Tiffin. I never forgot the Arky game and he will go down as one of the Bama players I just do not like right next to Chris Capps.
I wouldn't piss off the boys from Alabama . . .

And he didn't miss them by that much
it wasn’t like he wasn’t even close – they both missed 2-4 feet to the left. Just a bad break.
