Now that everyone is a lil calmer...maybe...

look, AFTER the first quarter...

Star-divide

we played a tough game with Utah. And we won that 3 quarter game 17 to 10.  that is not sayin much but what can you say? utah was a damn good team and they deserved every inch of what they got.

ours worst fears occured for this game and our depth was seriously exposed. with smith gone, the backup gone, upchurch gone, the o line reshuffled with inexperienced players playing different positions...

utah caught passes. bama did not.  utah capitalized.  bama did not.

the tide deserved to be there, no matter what anyone says. but they arrived not as the same team that got them there. and the predictable happened.

congrats to utah...maybe there will be another chance one day

I understand.....

however, losing Upchurch didn’t exactly come to mind watching us get killed. This is just another good reason and evidence for a playoff system. Screw these damn Bowl games!!!!!!!!

I

wouldn’t mind seeing some sort of a playoff but anything resembling a ‘true’ playoff, in my opinion, is not feasible. There are 117-ish D-I schools who play football, how are you going to make a true playoff with that large of a pool? Even if you take the best 8 or 16 teams at the end, you’re still going to have to decide it with rankings.

It's a little different

trying to decide who is the 16th best team vs. the 17th best team and who is the 3rd best team vs. the 2nd best team. If you’re 17th, well . . . you probably could have done something to close the gap. No #17 is going to be undefeated. But if you’re 3rd, well . . . maybe you did everything you could and still didn’t get a shot. If you’re a 1-loss team I think you have a harder time bitching than if you’re undefeated and still don’t get a shot at the title. Maybe this game and the USC/Penn State game will help push us closer, but I have lost most of my faith in ever seeing a playoff.

just sayin...

i believe upchurch to be the 2nd best behind coffee in terms of the big rushing plays. ingram fell off a lil bit and was not near as productive as he was to start the season. i hope roy makes a full recovery for next season. we needed him also against UF and utah

Dude

I said that repeatedly after the game. Yes the 1st quarter was terrible but we manned up after that. Any other team would have laid down but we fought back. I serioulsy thought after the fumble recovery to start the 3rd quarter that we had a good shot. But thanks to Kareem Jackson and his inability to cover/tackle anything, we gave them those 7 points right back.

Look the game was terrible and yes it is embarrassing but as Kelph has been saying all night, look at what this team accomplished. NOONE thought we’d even be in the sugar bowl let alone win 12 games…i for one am proud of our team and how they fought back.

I

agree with you Bammer..we were playing with house money all year. We will be stronger for the loss next year. It’s a long way away but next year will be here soon..So, let’s kick some turkey ASS!!!!!

. And we won that 3 quarter game 17 to 10

But you also lost the game in the 1st quarter by them scoring more points in that one quarter then you did the whole game.

no one will argue with that.

Obviously...

…I think the reason it is brought up though is because despite being outgunned massively in the first quarter, it shows that the team didn’t roll over and play dead and actually got to within four at point. Though Utah continued to roll up a lot of yardage and a lot of first downs, adjustments were made to stop them from scoring and you’ve got to look for positives where you can after an whipping like that.
