New Blog: Sounder At Heart for Seattle Sounders Fans!

For this first time this year, the Crimson Tide felt entitled to a victory it didn't have to earn. The focus and preperation that had been a strength all season just wasn't there this time.

Alabama arrived in Atlanta with a feeling of invincibility that all unbeaten teams possess. Utah had that confidence. Alabama no longer did. And the Utes were a good team. They were fired-up, prepared and well-coached. Should they have steamrolled the Tide like they did in the game's first 11 minutes? Probably not. But from the time Alabama's team arrived in New Orleans, there was an uneasy feeling around the Tide that hadn't been there all year. It just didn't feel the same.

How can you not want to mangle each and every opponent?

You only get 12-13 chances per season. There’s no excuse for “not being ready to play”.

I love

all the A-hole fans of other teams who come on here and post comments like “Stop making excuses”, “You were overrated”, “Bama sucks”.

I can’t speak for everyone, but I have never rubbed in a victory, much less a loss. The aforementioned trolls make blogging lose its fun very quickly. The Utah fans who have visited our site, by and large, have been great. As for those who joined yesterday or today, I wonder about you. Maybe I was taught never to taunt or disrespect people. Maybe you think that your grudges against Nick Saban and/or Alabama—for whatever ridiculous, overblown reasons you have them in the first place…it’s a sport played with a tremendous amount of heart and pride, assholes, but it’s still just a game—justifies your logging in and taunting us. You are the scum of the earth. The reason I belong to this site, and no other, is that the opinions expressed here and fair and unbiased. The people here do not taunt opponents or talk smack inappropriately.

Yet some A-holes still come and disrespect us? Why don’t you go find the Bama fan who resembles Big Bob from Harold and Kumar’s last movie (the one who probably made you hate Bama for doing exactly what you did to us a long time ago) and talk smack to him.

The people on this site, particularly the moderators and consistent posters, are nice, open-minded Bama fans who care about their team. The taunting trolls, however, are complete pieces of crap who RUIN everything that is good about a GAME like football.

what pisses me off

is when they come in, attack us after a loss and then expect us to be civil…

When you are an Alabama fan you are expected to hate Auburn, I hate Tennessee because I want to.

Yeah, not like anyone on our site has ever flamed a rivals site

"With a girl - I-HOP; with the guys - Waffle House; with a girl you are pulling wingman on - Taco Bell." Comer, on his favorite place to eat at 3 a.m.

I wouldn't advocate it

The last thing any of us would want to be is a flamer.

Exactly.

Unfortunately, there are regulars on this board that do so…

and as im sure that was aimed at me...

The only site that i talk any kind of trash on is TeT…i should have never gone over there after the game last. That was a stupid thing for me to do…i can’t remember that one AU fan but he’s taken it to far attacking my wife and all. Bro7 i hope we can come to some sort of resolution to whatever problem we have with eachother..

i am very outside this situation, and really don't follow bama

but arguments like the one in this piece are pretty weak and only become clear in retrospect, when the mind is looking for an explanation

write your dr. phil esque psychobabble BEFORE the game if its really so apparent, not after the fact

That article

is from an Alabama newspaper. It wasn’t written by anyone on this site.

I do honestly think

that Alabama did not play up to its abilities though, so in that regard, the article merits some truth. Those of us who have followed the team closely for a while were completely shocked by our play last night. Fundamentally we looked terrible. Utah played well, but we haven’t tackled that poorly and made as many penalties in a while. Our style of play had been mistake-free (including mental mistakes in coverage) and we totally looked like greenhorns last night. I realize that Utah came out ready to attack us, but it’s not like we haven’t had time to scout them, and we also had faced some complicated schemes before last night’s game. That was such a bad fundamental showing by our team—and a team that had been error-free almost all season—that we are still stunned.

Penalties and Rumors at Game

Were given out quite liberally with Utah getting I think even more. I thought the game was played fairly clean but called fairly poorly.

As for being prepared, your fans there were saying Saban let his guys stay out late each night. At the Marriott, we met a coach going over curfew with players and asked how sure he was they’d be in bed by 10 or 11:00. He said “guaranteed.”

Any truth to the rumors ’Bama guys stayed out till 1 AM?
