BAsketball rumor mill
I heard the other day Bama is after Biobby Knight to take over BBall. Have y'all heard anything about this? I know how the rumor mill starts rolling, but if this is true, WOW.
now to get to seventy five words I bring you a classic fart joke:
You are on the bus when you suddenly realize ... you need to fart.
The music is really loud, so you time your farts with the beat.
After a couple of songs, you start to feel better as you approach your stop.
As you are leaving the bus, people are really staring you down, and
that's when you remember: you've been listening to your ipod.

His name is popping up
About the UGA opening too. If it happened Id be excited, though it’s just a temporary fix.
When you are an Alabama fan you are expected to hate Auburn, I hate Tennessee because I want to.
A temporary fix...
…is better than no fix at all. Bring on The General.

Yeah, he's already shown...
he’s at a stage in his coaching career where he can just up and walk out on his players forever. He’s no more than a rickety bridge that very well may not get us to where we want to go. We’ll get a hell of a lot of press over it though, and every game will be sold out.

The bridge...
…we’ve been on is currently underwater. Let’s step up and try that ‘rickety’ one for a change.

Can you imagine......
The General and CNS in a press conference together!!! I would pay money to see it.
Well, are you gonna pull them pistols, or whistle dixie?
Oh dear...
Nick Saban and Bob Knight in a combined press conference? I think it would probably result in the death of 5 journalists.

Do
you guys really think Knight would play second fiddle to Saban? Which he most certainly would have to. I think not.
Thirty-Six to Nothing
Probably Not
Texas Tech did not really get on the map until this year, after Knight was already gone. I still don’t think he will come to Bama however.
Not really.....
Isn’t it funny as the Texas Tech football got better, he decided it was time to head on. Curious, very curious.
Well, are you gonna pull them pistols, or whistle dixie?
I would just enjoy
How much the media would absolutely hate us….

Most people...
…who have worked for forty years or so are past their best days. That doesn’t mean that they don’t have good days in front of them, especially when it comes to teaching/coaching. What you may lose in energy/enthusiasm is generally superseded by what you gain in experience/wisdom. I really like Mark Gottfried and wanted him to succeed. The main problem I saw was that our players did not seem to learn much from him. He seemed, with one or two exceptions, to do the least with the most talent. The reason I like Bob Knight — and Tubby Smith, for that matter — is that the man can teach. We have talent: we’re just not getting the productivity from it that we should. That would change under Knight.
If somebody has a better suggestion, I’m ready to listen.

The
problem with Knight is stability, or lack of. You hire a guy like Knight at this point in his career and how long will you have him? 3 maybe 4 years? Then you’re right back where you started.
Thirty-Six to Nothing
When...
…CNS leaves the football program, will we be right back where we started? Was LSU right back where it started when he left them? I’ll gladly take 3 or 4 years if it means 3 or 4 years of building toward excellence and leaving a stronger program for the next guy to run.

BB
is different. You recruit 3-4 top 10 classes (25 guys a class) and yeah, you’re going to be good for awhile. But BB is like 4-5 guys a year and they can leave after 1 year if they’re that good. The effect of Knight would be gone a year after he left.
Thirty-Six to Nothing
That's true...
…to an extent, but it beats hiring a young, unproven guy who may be gone after 3 or 4 years anyway ‘cause he can’t do the job….or worse, stays longer ‘cause we don’t care enough about BB so we wallow in mediocrity.

Bobby Knight would NEVER fit in...
All the “football school” stuff aside. He’s a prima donna ass who demands that the administration (hell, everyone) submit to his will. He is pompous, arrogant, a terror and a bully. The obvious parallels arise with CNS and Knight, but I think the closer parallel to CNS is Coach K. While K is a hard ass too (and a Knight disciple), you always get the feeling of real warmth that never is quite there with Knight. And, just like CNS, K’s players will live and die for him, not because they’re terrified (although they are to some extent), but because they WANT to.
"penis fish"…google that, and the candiru is the first thing that pops up
