Top Ten Plays/Moments of 2008?
We'll be starting in on the season wrap up bit over the next few days, and one of the things I'm going to do is a post a day series on the top plays/moments of the year. I've got a handful in mind that have to be on it, but I want y'all's input as well. Here's what I'm thinking:
- National Signing Day
- The leaked video of Julio's TD catch during practice
- The Clemson beatdown
- Coffee running all over Arkansas
- The Tennessee win
- "Georgia's wearing black because they're going to a %$#$%^& funeral."
- Arenas almost single handedly beating Tulane
- End of the Streak
- Johnson's INT at LSU
- Wilson's back shoulder throw to Julio in
INTOT at LSU
That's some off the top of my head, but I know there are plenty more. Chime in, people

JPW last throw
in the Sugar bowl. That is my number one moment on the year.
Auburn fans are like slinkys... not really good for anything but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs.
Ill answer that if someone will tell me what the hell IMAO stands for…
For
The
Win
When you are an Alabama fan you are expected to hate Auburn, I hate Tennessee because I want to.
John Parker Wilson
pointing up to the scoreboard in the Arkansas game letting that Hog know how the game was going!!!
Javy's
Punt return in the SB.

In no particular order
The fade – JPW to Julio against UGA (yep, THAT good)
JPW QB sneak winning TD in OT against LSU (breaking hearts)
Coffee’s TD run in the Iron Bowl (the route was on)
Julio’s long catch and run in the SECCG on our first drive (if you thought this was gonna easy…)
Coffee’s long TD run against UK
The Flea flicker against Ole Miss
R. Johnson’s INT return for a TD against LSU (that was a HUGE momentum swing at point in the game, but nobody remembers because of what happened in OT)
Thirty-Six to Nothing
My fav was UGA
JPW to Julio….i was in that endzone and went nuts while all the blackout UGA fans marched out to their funeral……greatest moment of the season for me
Hell, no! A tie is like kissing your sister!
UGA in Black
Because your team really did not play it up, they did (recall Richt’s news conference—the dorkus), and your guys spoke your piece on the field. That’s the way to do it. Great team effort there, that’s a real highlight, the entire team getting it done and going wild.
How about the win @TN?
First win there since Watts was QB, virtually ended the UT career of the Great Pumpkin, 8th win – officially topping the ’07 win total, and a noble reason to enjoy a fine cigar!
All the empty stadiums
by the 4th quarter except for Bama fans and ALL those great rammer jammer cheers at the end of the games.
That's the paradox of success. The moment you stop to enjoy it, you are in trouble. You have to keep moving forward. It's not what you have done that's important. It's where you are going.

Iron Bowl: Nick Saban yelling at the Punter
Nick Saban getting in the punter’s azz when we were up by over twenty points….
Striving for excellence fellas.
Well...
…although the game itself was a bust…
1. Javy’s return for a TD against Utah was one of the best plays of the year in college football. He outran ’em, he knocked ’em down, and it reminded us all of just why CNS showed so much patience with him.
2. Saban’s timeout call was the top play of the Auburn game.
3. JPW’s over-the-shoulder pass to Julio to set up the game-winning TD vs. LSU.
4. The D holding UT out of the end zone after Javy fumbled the ball in the 1st quarter. Game-changing.
5. The flea-flicker vs. Ole Miss.
6. The first half of the Georgia game. The whole friggin’ thing.
7. Javy’s performance vs. Tulane.
8. The Clemson game. The tone-setter.
9. The videos: Julio’s TD and Cody’s ball-stripping knockdown…of two teammates.
10. #1 Recruiting Class.

Damn right

and who is gonna step up on special teams next year!!!
Cody
Skipping out onto the field for his first college offensive play—which was, of course, a big success!!!
marycontrary
I think the whole year....
in general was just great….I didn’t get to see all the games, so really can’t comment. I wished I could have seen them all!! Either way….I’m pumped for next year already!!! RTR!!

We want these to be "Good" memories...
….but maybe we should do a top five moments that we wish hadn’t occured list as well…
How about
the 79 ,i think it was, points we put up in the 1st quarter through the 1st 6 games before giving up a field goal too ole miss….personally i’m glad we started playing “complete games”, but i wish we woulda kept up with the dominance in the 1st half(which i guess we did except fl and the utes)

The last few minutes of the Iron Bowl.
Not just because we beat the Barn (although that was nice), but that was a complete season! The electricity in BDS in those moments was more than just that game….you could see it in the fans, the players, the coaches—everyone in crimson there. Rammer Jammer just ROCKED! =)
you ain't seen nothin'
unless you seen the ‘scene’ outside of egans!!! muuahahahahahahahahaha

True ALabama Fans that want to talk about 09
If there is anyone that would talk about the upcoming season for Alabama football, go to http://jcobb-alabamafootball.blogspot.com/. There has been alot of good stuff coming in. Updated daily.
The Unforgettable Moments.
1) The first half of “The Funeral” in Athens will never be forgotten — either by Tide or Dawg fans.
2) The 4th Quarters against UT and AU — watching Fulmer and Tuberville writhe in pain for a full quarter as they were ground into the turf was unforgettable. Couldn’t have happened to a classier duo.
3) The Clemson Game — starting the college football season off in prime time with a resounding beat down was a lot of fun.
Those memories easily make up for the failure to show up in New Orleans. (Lets face it — the only reason the fans cared was the “principle” of the thing and the players shared the same feeling.) On to recruiting.
YES
im at school but i cant help but read these posts and get shivers down my spine!!!!!!! THIS IS ALABAMA FOOTBALL!!!
Agreed.
That was an oversight. I would put the LSU OT (the memorable part of the game) in that list also. Those five games will not be forgotten any time soon.
HERE WE GO
10. the waiting for the first game
9. our opening drive against clemson ending with a ridiculously long field goal,
8. watching college gameday after the clemson beatdown and listen to the apologies from that crew about under estimating us.
7. The goal line stand against Ark.
6. going to UGA and slaughtering them after listening to BULL*&^% all week.
5. the college gameday show after the UGA game.
4. beating state
3. beating LSU and JPW telling the student sec. to call him after a TD.
2. Beating UT and Fulmer quiting
1. 36 – 0 BABY ROLL DAMN TIDE WE R BACK.
