Top Ten Alabama Moments of 2008: #8 - Wilson Knows the Score
Halfway through the third quarter of what would turn into a 49-14 humiliation, and with the score already an embarassing 42-7, Arkansas DE Damario Ambrose presumably decided it was time to talk a little trash towards the visiting opponents. John Parker Wilson, ever the gentleman, proceeded to point out the scoreboard to Ambrose much to the delight of the Alabama populated internets.

Umm...
…not one of my favorites. Maybe the Arky DE deserved it, but it’s just not very classy to point out the scoreboard to somebody you’re destroying. Plus, it reminds me of the LSU ‘phone call’. Did the douchey LSU fans who harassed him all week deserve it? Of course. Was it a bad move by JPW? Of course. I know I’m showing my age here, but I just love players who make plays, then immediately get ready for the next play or trot off the field instead of drawing attention to themselves. If I were to pick from this game, it would have been a pick six from this game, or both, as there were two.

He was asking for it...
…but that doesn’t make this one of my top ten moments. JP could have shrugged it off while continuing to play the game. The manhandlee still had the loss to shut him up at the end of the day.

I’m not sure I see the “classless” angle. Especially without knowing what Ambrose said.
If Ambrose said “Man, almost got you there…” then, yeah, that was pretty tacky. Of course, how many of you want to wager that he said something that innocuous?
You don’t talk trash when you ALMOST get a sack in a game in which you’re getting destroyed. Sometimes people need to be taught lessons.
Yes...
…but the worst way to teach a lesson to someone who talks trash is to talk trash.
The best way is to hit them in the mouth (within the rules of the game, of course).

Have a citation for that?
I’d guess that smarted a little and he might hold his tongue a little longer next time his team is getting housed.

no he was thinking...
boy if Andre wasn’t standing right there…
When you are an Alabama fan you are expected to hate Auburn, I hate Tennessee because I want to.
