Who would have thought
that we would have ended the season at No. 6. Before the season began, most of the people on this post would have been delirious with the thought of a 2 loss season. I am sure we can all agree that the season ended on a sour note with the 2 losses being in the final 2 games of the year (remember Bill Curry). But, a 2 loss year can’t be considered a bad year when the only 2 losses came teams ranked No. 1 and No. 2 in the final poll. That being said, we had a great season with a lot of young players getting winning experience.

Exactly
I don’t think any of us even dreamed of having a shot at the NC and going to the Sugar Bowl. And with Tim Tebow’s win last night it makes Alabama’s two losses look even better. If Tebow wins another NC next year he’ll be tied with Florida.
Another thought on the final AP polls….What if Alabama had declined the invitation to play in the Sugar Bowl? Would we be #3 in the polls instead of #6? We would have a 12-1 record just like USC and Texas. Obviously there is not a requirement on the number of games you have to play because Utah, USC, Texas, Penn State, etc. only played 13 games while Oklahoma, Alabama, and Tim Tebow and some other guys in pads and helmets played 14 games. Who knows what would have happened if USC or Utah played a conference championship? I doubt either would have lost, but you never know.

to understand how great a year we had it’s useful to go back and give a gander to the pre-season AP poll for comparison sake.

How can USC
be ranked ahead of Alabama? What a scam! These schools that have no Conference championship game should be held accountable for it. When there is so much on the line..ie, winning and losing..to be placed in a BCS bowl…it only makes sense to have EVERY BCS team playing for their conference title. Only then will a true playoff system take root and a NC be declared. My question is…why isn’t the MWC in the BCS?

Check out the "A Little Perspective thread"
There’s actually a formula for determining BCS schools, and from 2007-2010 the MWC wasn’t good enough to qualify.

That is fantastic
considering the way we ended the season. Not sure I would have voted us that high based on ending on a 2 loss skid and the way we played the last game. But yay!

All I have to say is
ROLL TIDE!
I’m still struggling a bit with my NOLA hangover. I read the blog last saturday (while I got $700 of work done to my car so I could LEAVE New Orleans) and nothing since – no sports radio show, no tv, no newspapers. Dang it, it just hurt. I SO didn’t want non-bama folks to remember this team by their last game. But now, I’m aight. Great Coach, Great Seniors, Great Season, with the only two blemishes coming against #1 & #2. I hope our boys are holding their heads HIGH.
