Coffee to NFL?

I just heard this from a source I trust!  But, I'd like to know if anyone else has heard this.  Can anyone else confirm one way or the other?  If this is accurate, then color me floored!  I know it was a great season for him, but I didn't think it was THAT great!  If it is true, then I wish him the best and hopefully it won't put too great a dent in our O.

If you think about

It…it makes sense. we will be rebuilding the O-line next year, and that means a drop in production. If he can get good money this year…then i say do it.

YEP

I’s a good move on his part although I sure hate to see him go.

BOL

posted it as well. I say good for him. I do not see his stock getting much higher than it is now anyway. As long as he has a good combine he will be fine.

Auburn fans are like slinkys... not really good for anything but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs.

I'm

disappointed although this is a good thing for Trent Richardson, I hope he doesn’t redshirt.

Trent Richardson

Trent Richardson is a great talent, however, he will still be a Freshman playing against D-lineman who are faster than anyone whom he played against in HS. The jump is tremendous and we shouldn’t think every freshman will be able to do what Julio or Mark did this year. (I’m still amazed) Coffee has been our starter for 2 years and missing him cannot be a good thing no matter how you slice it. I wish him well, but we are a better team with him than without.

Ditto

I think he did a great job this year, but I’m sure between Ingram and Richardson next year, and the hope that Upchurch gets healthy I think we will be fine. Good Luck, Coffee and God Bless

Well, are you gonna pull them pistols, or whistle dixie?

Coffee

The one thing I will say for Coffee is that this will almost be the best season he can have. He was very productive, and while he is fairly limited in his physical abilities, go while the getting is good.

It does make the running back situation a little more tenuous. Upchurch went through relatively major surgery, and it is not known when or if he will be able to get back to full health. That leaves only one healthy running back from last season who saw significant carries, Mark Ingram.

On the plus side this increases the number of scholarships available for the next class. We had 9 seniors graduating, that coupled with Coffee’s decision gives us 10 guys leaving the program after the spring. We also had three players from this upcoming class already enroll in school.

If he wasn't already...

…Trent Richardson just became the most important recruit in the 09 class.

Alright, that's something I don't understand...

no matter if recruits enroll early and count towards last year’s number, they are still added to the overall scholarship number, so how does that free up more scholarships for this coming season? We still only get 85 regardless.

There's...

…more than one number to worry about. 85 total is one, 25 per year is another. Since only 23 members of the 08 team count toward last year’s class, we can bring two more in now to count toward last year’s 25, giving us 27 dudes we can give schollies to this year and be OK. Of course, we still have to say goodbye to 14 more players to do that, since we currently only know of 11 who are leaving. My guess is that we will sign about 30, six to eight of whom will not play this year, one or two who will either greyshirt or get a swimming scholarship or something, leaving us with 20 to 23 guys we need to find room for this year. So, nine or so current players will need to transfer, quit, or get dismissed for medical reasons or…oh…selling coke, robbing somebody, something like that.

You have to also remember

The running back shelf life in the NFL is very small, he is giving himself an extra year…
Also i will miss coffee more than any senior… he was just my favorite player this year.

But at least he waited til after the game. He shoulda talked to Andre…

You won't catch me joining either...

“Poor”, misunderstood Andre. What a freakin’ joke. Thank you, Glen Coffee, for a great year AND for playing in the Sugar Bowl. You are a TEAM player, my man. Good luck in the NFL. My autographed copy of SI with you on the cover is PRICELESS right now. But in the future? Hmmmm.
