Ellis Johnson doesn't think the crowd will play a big factor
We need to show Coach Johnson how load Bryant-Denny is on Saturday:
"Frankly, when I coached at Alabama we went in a lot of louder stadiums than we had at Alabama," Johnson said. "Alabama's got very football-intelligent fans. They've been used to championships. They've been used to tradition. They've seen it all. It's gotten a lot louder now because it's bigger now than it was."
Johnson, a Winnsboro native in his second year at USC, is concerned about how his young defense will respond in a hostile environment against an offense averaging 37 points a game. In a 28-26 win against Kentucky on Saturday, Johnson said he counted seven freshmen or redshirt freshmen on the field at the same time.
"I'm sure it'll be a tough environment because of the football team and coach (Nick) Saban. It won't be anything because of the fans. That'll be the secondary issue," Johnson said. "I know it's going to be tough for these young freshmen to go in that environment"
Although to be fair, he did say BDS is a special place. Still, why not show him just how loud we can be?

That was awesome I some how forgot about it.
It was hella loud during third downs against Arky this year when I was there and that was after it rained all day and a good bit of people didnt show up.
It will be louder against socar we got another fragile qb to rattle.
36-0

Sounds fairly quiet to me...

After spending seven wondrous years in the state of Alabama, never in my life have I seen fans, who claim to be loyal to one team, spend more time AUbsessing over the other more so than they do their very own.

I have never experienced anything as loud as I heard the stadium a few years back when we had Oklahoma on the ropes in BDS as we were getting ready to get the ball back.
Of course, they turned around and fake punted on 4th down and kept the drive alive… but for a few minutes, I’m not sure there’s ever been a louder stadium anywhere.
I'm wrong all the time.

Loud
I have to say, the loudest game I’ve ever been to was our game at Oklahoma. When they ran that shovel pass down to our 4 yard line I thought my ears were bleeding.
That being said, I have not been to a game at BDS since the expansion. I can’t wait to go but it will probably be next year when the new expansion is complete. The PSU game is going to be sick.

I went to the North Texas game........
and though it was a blow out, there were times when the crowd can be very loud. This comment may push us fans over the edge, so be ready Ellis.

I have to disagree...
I was a student during the year when Florida came to visit BDS, I believe it was ’06. My mom (littlesis) and I always communicate during the game because one of us is usually there. I specifically remember having to send my mom a text message during the first series because The Tide was on defense and it was SO LOUD I knew there was no way she could hear me if I called her. It was like that THE ENTIRE game!!

Florida Game 2005....
was definitely the loudest continously throughout the game I have ever been to in my life. I hope we can replicate that at some point again.

Someone should let the Greek
students know that filling up their section after the game starts is not the way to go. The more people, the more noise (most of the time)

Well
one of the purposes of pledges is to hold the seats, so the “actives” can drink an extra 30 minutes or so. Still, yes, they should be there by kickoff.
I'm in no condition to drive...wait! I shouldn't listen to myself, I'm drunk.

We didn't know it was going to be important
but , coming off the loss to La. Tech, it wound up being HUGE, Arkie-Alabama at BDS in 1999. Place was a jungle.

I think Johnson
will be surprised with how loud the crowd is especially at night.
By the way, I’ve been to most other SEC schools and I don’t know what he is talking about. All the big schools – LSU, UT,UF,UGA etc, seem to me to be the same. Well LSU may be just slightly louder. One thing we at Bama have going for us on the road is our own traveling support crowd is awesome. Watch SC will not bring that many folks. UT & LSU will bring serious folks but not SC, or I’d be surprsied if they brought many, they did not before.
Johnson may regret this comment.
I hate the NCAA more than UT & AU combined. At least with UT & AU you got a fighting chance.

Well, folks, looks like Eli is wrong
Other things Eli was wrong about:
That I should have been his starting linebacker
That his wife is hotter than mine
If I think of anything else, I’ll let you know
MATRIX: Bennett, I thought you were--
BENNETT: Dead? You thought wrong. Ever since you had me thrown out of the unit, I've been waiting to pay you back. Do you know what today is, Matrix? Payday.

What was the volume like last night?
(two big plays aside).

it was
pretty loud, but gloves and blankets muffled the sound somewhat
