University of South Carolina running back Jarvis Giles has been suspended for the Saturday's game at Alabama for a team and university policy violation, according to The State newspaper of Columbia, S.C.

This is a bummer, man
I haven’t seen Jarvis since we were chums at Lockersbie Fencing School.

On top of it all...
USC’s starting LG has left the team according to al.com…
There was more bad news for the Gamecocks late last night. Junior Heath Batchelor, the starting left guard last weekend, told the Charleston Post and Courier that he has left the team.
that's strange.
I wonder what caused him to make that decision.
Not having both of them play kinda stinks cuz I want Bama to play teams at full strength.
agreed
VA tech lost their lead RB right before playing us (though his freshman relpacement proved formidable)
North Texas lost their QB right before playing us
Kentucky has several injuries right before the Bama game
Ole Miss...
…lost control of their bowels right before playing us….

In all fairness
we haven’t been so lucky with injuries/losing players either.
We lost Jerrell Harris before playing Virginia Tech for half the season. Damion Square blew out his knee. Dont’a Hightower did the same. Roy Upchurch has been in and out of the lineup. Julio has been banged up. Star Jackson has been sick. Snake Stabler has been out of the broadcast booth.
The difference is we have more depth than most of those teams, but that’s their fault, not ours. If this were the NFL, where we only had 52 players or whatever, and we’d experienced similar losses we’d be in trouble.

I agree with this 100%. After Kentucky fans complained that they would have beaten us if not for their injuries...
My reply was that we had suffered injuries, too, but we had better depth than Kentucky. I also said that the tables would be turned on us this week, when we play a team that has more than us. All teams go through injuries; depth is what separates Florida and Alabama as elite, teams like South Carolina as good, and teams like Vandy as cellar-dwellers.

At this point… we haven’t played in the NC game since 92..If we win out, we are playing for it all..So i really wouldn’t mind if everyone just layed down in front of us.

I agree
It’s hard enough to win with the breaks, and I know it’s great to want perfection against worthy opponents, but every team that wins it all has at least one game (or several) where they really seem to luck out. Like a desperate guy, I’ll take it any way we can get it.

Very true
just as the ’92 team (La. Tech, So. Miss games).

And realistically,
what team EVER gets to the MNC playing all teams at their full strength? It just doesn’t happen. We have played some good teams, though – especially VaTech, and will play far better ones coming up in the schedule, and if we run the table, and in many cases if we only lose one, we deserve this years title as much as any team in history deserved theirs.

Though I gotta admit
it’s gonna be hard to make a good sounding one out of the Citi BCS Championship Game 2010. SugarBowl works on so many levels. Maybe I should put up a poll or something…

The only one that matters:
Florida.
Last year’s game was one for the ages (sadly), and I see no reason to believe that if both teams run the table that this year won’t be even better (with a different result). And, I want Tebow’s last game against the SEC to feature a very pissed off Rolando McClain staring down at him in crimson glory.

Last year was truly an anomoly too
Florida took their lumps losing Harvin down the stretch, but we did freakishly well in the injury department. Julio was banged up and played (but little did we know the extent of it), Upchurch’s neck was hurt, Cody was out a bit, but otherwise, remarkably healthy, and teams that win 12 straight usually have that luck.

I would not
assume these SC changes will change the game. SC will likely have to beat Bama by the pass not the run. The O-Lineman in question was not going to start anyway.
SC will be ready and they will be tough. We have to be tougher.
I hate the NCAA more than UT & AU combined. At least with UT & AU you got a fighting chance.
This. This olineman has been an underperformer his entire career...
Losing him hurts our depth, but we have other guys that can play at his level.
