Week 7 Open Thread: I don't know if you've heard, but Texas and OU play today...
With a late kickoff for our beloved Tide, you'll just have to sit and watch at least seven hours of other teams. I know it will be tough, but with effort, determination, snacks, and a winning attitude relative to your desire to waste an entire day we can make it. Courage.

I'm really disappointed...
Saturdays are my libation days, but I just had surgery yesterday. Somehow, pigskin and percocet just don’t go as well together :(
That said I like:
Arkie to cover
OU to win straight up
Georgia to cover at Vandy
Alabama to absolutely crush USCe
And USC to win in a laugher…even in the Jungle.

i really liked his casual mention in the discussion of alabama’s defense concerning “how a championship team” plays.

Too creepy really for me, what with the keyhole etc, but pray tell about this “squat-thrust dance”?!
Imagine

I would argue,
that the fact that they just arrested somebody for making the tape would show that it wasn’t staged.

Game Day
I only caught the last 25 minutes so I may be mistaken, but did they not pick a single SEC game?
They had games from Pac 10, Big Ten, Big 12, and ACC, but no SEC. Did they do it earlier in the show?
I didn't see one either...
Could that have to do with the fact that UF is on CBS today?

maybe they sense some SEC fatigue
after last weekend and Bama/Ole Miss and ramming UF/LSU into the ground.
I mean, I don’t find any SEC games this week all that intriguing, and they might agree, but they were picking random PAC-10 games, so it’s not like quality is a consideration.

Game time snacks--my fave
My favorite recipe for football games. No, it is not a “green” recipe, but it is sooo good. And on second thought Algore looks like he eats a lot of it…..
16 oz Velveeta (use the 2% milk variety if you must salve your consience);
1 can original Rotel Tomatoes with green chiles, drained;
1 pkg Jimmy Dean Hot breakfast sausage
Brown sausage, while crumbling it into a hamburger like texture and then drain thoroughly. Melt Velveeta and Rotel in microwave in covered container, stirring often, until hot, smooth and bubbly. Add sausage, stir and enjoy with Dorito Scoops, Triscuits or your fave cracker or chip.
In the unusual event you have any leftovers, heat it for breakfast and top a plain omelet with it.

Wow.
Same hit that injured it the first time. Time to call the season. He’s got too much money coming to him in the NFL to try coming back again.
Problem now, though...
… his draft stock will drop a lot simply because he’ll be such a risk. He might have to come back now just to prove that he’s healthy.
Injuries to the throwing shoulder of a quarterback is no laughing matter.

True,
but he was the #1 overall pick before the injury. I have to imagine he would still be a 1st or 2nd-rounder.
i suggest not spending too much of today considering this...
since we are going to hear it over and over and over and over and over and over and over for the next six weeks and then every three seconds when we get down to bowl games.
Roll 'Bama Roll: The Champagne of 'Bama Blogs.
I agree...
… but to my knowledge no high-end drafted QB has ever done so while missing practically all of the previous year with an injury.
And it’s not that he’ll fall too far, but the money lost is massive. So he falls from #2 overall to #13… that drop alone will cost him 25-30 million dollars in guaranteed money.

Cool stat from the SEC Network bottom line.
Alabama has won 10 straight games in Tuscaloosa, the longest home winning streak since Bear Bryant was coach.
According to my search of the ESPN College Football Encyclopedia
Alabama did not lose a game in Tuscaloosa from 1963-1982. 59 straight games. Fun fact: that 59-game winning streak ended in Bryant’s last game in Tuscaloosa, a 38-29 loss against Southern Miss.

since i came in a little late—this arkansas team, the one which we completely blew up like alderaan, the one which we rolled up 425 yards on, is holding the gators to 2 field goals, 30 yards rushing, and has scored more on them than they did against us, and in the swamp ???

30 yard catch, 40 yard run
and it’s an incomplete pass.
OMG. These two are terrible.
A) Danielson doesn’t know who recovered the Fumble.
B) “Isn’t that an incomplete pass?” Thanks Verne.
and can someone explain to me how a fumble is ruled dead when it hits the ground?
Roll 'Bama Roll: The Champagne of 'Bama Blogs.
College has a rule about not advancing a fumble on 4th down,
but this wasn’t 4th down.
fine. but its not a fourth down.
i think they were just projecting all their hopes that arkansas will fuck it up.
Roll 'Bama Roll: The Champagne of 'Bama Blogs.
Theoretically
If it was a fumble but the play was blown dead, you could say that the ball was dead at the spot of the fumble, before the recovery. But that would be moronic.
So you can’t put it past any SEC official.
Maybe they were checking to make sure the ball didn't go out of the endzone
or that Childs didn’t hit the end line when he recovered it. Who knows.
exactly, it was the officiating crew covering their ass.
what is insane is gary and vern doing everything but promising cash money that the touchdown was nullified.

well, thats because if they didn't
the officiating crew would have caught heat next week. but that’s not to say the play was necessarily unclear.
Roll 'Bama Roll: The Champagne of 'Bama Blogs.
The only thing I can imagine is if the ref blew the whistle after he signaled TD, but before the recovery. In that case, do you treat it like a fumble out of the endzone? That would be so unjust, I’d have to give them the TD anyway.
The ruling on the field was a TD, though.
So if the whistle blew the play dead, then it was a TD anyway.

After 12 near heart attacks, a 1/2 bottle of Captain Morgan and nearly 900 posts on RBR, we pulled one out of our asses. Hopefully this will be the wake-up call our team desparately needed. I’ll take it over a loss any day.

I know yall were rooting against us and I don’t blame you, but I really will be rooting for the Tide to take care of Carolina tonight. I want nothing more than a National Championship Game in Atlanta, I think they should skip the BCS game and just hold a parade for the SECCG winner instead.

SEC refs - typical bad calls both ways
Mallett avoided a huge sack by grounding the ball – he wasn’t outside the tackles and the ball failed to reach the line of scrimmage. No call. But, I will never blame the refs when my team could have made 50 different plays and didn’t. I leave that to the UGA faithful.
