Sorry guys...

… I’ve been out most of the night. I’m watching, and a few thoughts:

  • Defense playing great
  • Marquis Johnson having a great night
  • HUGE sign of relief on Ingram’s knee injury being nothing major

*The lack of a passing game continues to kill us. Our entirely passing game consists solely and completely of dump-off passes to the backs.

  • McElroy is looking really bad. He’s got two picks, and honestly should have two or three more.
  • That last-minute drive by South Carolina was huge. I hate that we had to squib it, but it’s almost a forced decision with how bad our kick coverage team is.
  • Good to see Upchurch back looking healthy
  • Julio Jones… zero catches in the first half… why in the world can we not get the football to him?

Just looked seriously uncomfortable

And SC has a great defense, but he wasn’t sacked 10 times or anything – his stats are on his shoulders really. No piss poor right tackle to point the finger to or anything. What gives?

It’s also the best performance I’ve seen at BDS, so I’d like to thank him for helping to erase my memories of Emmitt Smith in 1987. And as much as I loathe the Heisman trophy and what it represents, I couldn’t really argue that there’s a better player in the country right now.

h

where h hiked the ball to q.

the second the ball hiked, refs called the play dead with falst start, because h literally turned to his side and hiked it like you would in a backyard 3 on 3 game.

I know...

….that most of this has been said by many so far tonight but I just wanted to put my two cents in.

1…I am so glad our game was not on CBS. I know we’re on CBS next weekend but those announcers today during AR-FL were idiots. On Arkansas’ goal line fumble…“Wait, that might be an incomplete pass” after running 20 or so yards. “Oh wait, it was a fumble, it might be a dead ball” WHAT???? Doesn’t a fumble mean it’s a LIVE ball? Not to mention, they just couldn’t say that we looked good against Arkansas and that’s why we won because they would have actually had to say that Florida didn’t look good, God forbid. grrrrrr….not looking forward to their announcing the TN-Bama game.

2. Mark Ingram is the man. I love how humble he is and his stat on yards after initial contact is AMAZING…sounds like he makes it kind of a game as to how many yards he can get after the first guy tries to tackle him.

3. I am so proud of Marquis Johnson. You don’t hear his name too often and evidently Steve Spurrier thought that was for a reason. WRONG!!! He held his own and hopefully will get the credit he deserves.

4. There has been a lot of talk on the blog this week about how important blocking is and I think that we can take Mark Ingram’s 200+ yards to say that we did that really well tonight. Hopefully We can put together the throwing part of the offense and only get better from there.

5. Very Interesting that Florida still has to play SC…I think they will give them a run for their money but I sort of want to be the only ones to beat them in ATL!

As for the rest of the game…it’s a W…Roll Tide!!

The only problem with SC playing Florida

is that we pre-maimed all of SC’s good players. I hope that game is several weeks away, so maybe Garcia and a few others have some time to heal. I think Hoover or Vestavia could beat them next weekend.

In case you don’t remember, I was the poster so worried about pissing off Spurrier by asking him to be our HC date. I was so worried about this game for the last month. And then to think of having to endure that knowing smile from Lou Holtz…. I am glad we escaped that one! Football—I am a bare apprentice to the grasshoppers. Basic Human Psychology—that I know a little bit about.

We are thinking about going to the TN game. I would love to see us beat the Lame Kitten. RTR, and keep up the great work at the Champagne of Bama Blogs!
