why i hate tim tebow

Oh where to start. So i have been making a list on why i hate tim tebow. 1). How many freakin players get concussions in the football and how many times does it really become such a huge deal that tv stations actually stop there current board casts to announce  it and replay the hit time, after time after time again. Yupp there apart of again but why in the world should a player get singled out when it happens to him unfair. 2). The week leading up to the LSU game, what was the main story line. Is TIm Tebow going to play. the fact is, is that who really cared? Yes i was glad to see the dude was ok, but to stop a freakin game (yes the bama, oles miss game) to annouce to the world that he was playing was complely uncalled for. Why in the world does this dude get this much attention. 3). The last drive of the ark game. It wasnt a good drive for florida but it was a great drive to Tim tebow. I watched this replay of this drive maybe what...5 times....Ohio State losing to an unranked team wasnt good enough, Sam Bradfords most likely career ending injury wasnt good enough, nope it was all about tim tebows winning drive. Give me a freakin break. and 4). The poles today. Why is florida ranked number. WHo the heck have they played. We played and beat by 10 plus, 2 or 3 ranked teams theyv played LSU? I think the BCS computer just adds a tim tebow factor to it and that is why florida is number one. Yes theres more but those are my points. I hope Javy is ok any word on him, and wow we looked awful against SC....has mcelory been exposed?

I agree with you.

I sure want to take Tebow down in ATL if we can get there. If LSU gets there there will be no chance.

By the way I don’t know why they will even bother voting for Heisman this year, why not just hand it to Tebow right now.

By the way I’m sorry but I do not see one humble bone in Tebow’s body. You want to see humble watch interviews with both Colt McCoy and Bradford. Both guys are great guys, very humble, and Christians.

And what is the deal with the refs throwing the flags on Arky and then not on UF. The Tebow factor? Are the refs in love with this guy too? And why does he never get called for celebration? He is the most visible celebration guy in footbal and he never gets flaged.

I will be glad when he leaves I just hope he goes out losing to Bama.

I hate the NCAA more than UT & AU combined. At least with UT & AU you got a fighting chance.

I agree about humility. Both your and the OP’s points are reasons why the two words “Tim Tebow” get on my nerves, but he can’t really help the media coverage. What he can help is the way he conducts himself on and off the field, which I don’t care for.

by bamabrian on Oct 18, 2009 10:21 PM CDT up reply actions

I’m curious. What exactly do you not like about the way he conducts himself off the field?

He shows no humility. At times, he essentially taunts the crowd, but through the guise of showing positive emotion (if that makes any sense). One of the better examples came in the fourth quarter of the SECCG last year. He carries on more than almost any player in college football… taking off his helmet, running around, etc., and wears his emotions on his sleeve like a child – be it poutiness or his own brand of near-hysterical passion. They aren’t all fair complaints, and I might change my tune if he were wearing Crimson, but he is not, and these are the reasons his on-field conduct bothers me…

by bamabrian on Oct 18, 2009 11:16 PM CDT up reply actions

nearly every player who is a recognized team leader does exactly what tebow does. he fires up his team mates. the guy plays at an elite level. would you expect him to sit on sidelines with his legs crossed, praying, or patiently waiting for the next opportunity to slowly trot out on the field. as for showing no humility, I disagree. TO is someone who lacks humility.

my blood runs crimson, but it is easy to admire a gifted athlete like tebow. I wish for him to be a 100% when we take on florida in the SECCG. anything less and we will have to hear for years from every damn florida fan that we wouldn’t have won that game if tebow had been playing.

so easy... even an Auburn fan can do it!

Disagree

He started off as a “humble” kid, but he has turned into a spoiled brat because the refs, media, and coaches kiss his ass all the time. Yeah, the guy is an amazing athlete, but do I really need to watch you jump up and down after every three yard first down run? Anyone else – ANYONE ELSE – would be flagged for excessive celebration doing half the things he does. I use to respect the guy, but he has turned into a complete asshole.

I’m not a hater, and not dismissing what he has done, but come on. His ego is as big as any in the game.

would you expect him to sit on sidelines with his legs crossed, praying, or patiently waiting for the next opportunity to slowly trot out on the field. as for showing no humility, I disagree.

You are jumping to the other side of the situation without recognizing the in between. Would you not admit that McClain is an elite player? Ingram? Do you see them acting the way Tebow does? NO! They get excited, and get their team fired up without acting like complete jackasses. I wish the refs had the backbone to flag his ass for penalties like he deserves.

by 5026 on Oct 19, 2009 8:39 PM CDT up reply actions

not forgetting

McClain’s little meltdown against VT, when he got pissed and knocked that guy off his feet after the play was over. just by calling one player an elite player does not mean dismissing others that are. Ingram does his power flex and yell after nearly every touchdown (that in no way makes him a jackass). I just don’t acknowledge the difference you guys see. all these players play with emotion. I think you all are letting your bias against an opponent get in the way. and btw, I get sick too of the tebow media lovefest. it seems like CBS only does its homework on one player. and lets not exaggerate to improve our argument. tebow doesn’t jump up and down hysterically after every 3 yard run. who wouldn’t get excited if it was 3rd and 2 or 4th and 3 in a clutch situation. florida has eked out its last two wins. I remember hearing florida hasn’t ever had a completely undefeated season and tebow wants to do that before he leaves. so, I’m pretty sure he is playing this season with a goal in mind and might be playing saban-esque every down. our coach preaches playing every down as if it were your last. what if tebow plays that way too?

so easy... even an Auburn fan can do it!

by K. brevis on Oct 19, 2009 1:11 PM CDT up reply actions

That is how Tebow plays

but please refrain from calling any of our player’s styles “Saban-esque”

Plus, anyone who calls Tebow spoiled, selfish and claims he shows no humility needs a serious reality check. You shouldn’t let your allegiance to your own team get in the way of respect for an outstanding player and individual just because he plays for another team and just because the media likes focusing on him. That only shows ignorance.

by skigator93 on Oct 19, 2009 5:11 PM CDT up reply actions

So what

if he really is a jerk we are supposed to say nothing because he doesn’t play for our team? The dude is a jerk period and he does not have the class of Colt McCoy or Sam Bradford, PERIOD.

Works both ways

Noone said he wasn’t a phenomenal player, but you are more guilty of blind ignorance by claiming otherwise. The kid is a brat, but I would love to have him on my team. No doubt. But that doesn’t excuse his behavior, and if you think otherwise then you are the one showing ignorance.

My point is that he isn't a jerk

He’s a good guy – I’ve met him as our families vacationed in the same resort over the summer. I am sure that you have met him too given your strong opinion of his character? Or are you just basing your strong hatred on what you see on TV?

by skigator93 on Oct 20, 2009 8:37 AM CDT up reply actions

Oh my bad

by the way, I met coach Saban once in person cause we were at the same place at the same time. I now know, for a fact, that he is a saint and would never yell or be an ass towards anyone, regardless of what I have seen on tv.

And its not hatred, just a perception of him via his attitude and goofy shit like the damn half time speech – Varsity blues wants their corny dialogue back.

BTW, that is the perception he shows, and, sorry to break your heart, but perception is reality. Of course, I’m sure, by your comments, you and Tebow are best friends.

by BamaReturns07 on Oct 20, 2009 8:43 AM CDT up reply actions

No - we are not friends

But I did meet him in person, spoke with him briefly, and saw how he conducted himself during one random week. There were no cameras, no press, no stories. He was there on a family vacation with his siblings and his girlfriend (and no, it wasn’t the girl in the picture with the huge knockers – but I guess since you read that on the internet, it must be true as well). He signed autographs and took pictures with people all day, everyday. He threw the ball around with kids and was overly polite and respectful to everyone. He even annoyed me a bit with all the “yes sirs” and “no sirs” during our conversation about the upcoming season.

I’ve never met Saban, or Bradford or McCoy, but haven’t heard anything bad about any of them, other than about Saban from unfounded comments from bitter LSU fans, but I keep those in perspective for what they are. I personally think he’s a top coach and recruiter.

Unfortunately

All of your points have to deal with how the media hangs on his sack rather than his conduct or own performance. So really you hate how the media covers Tebow?

Personally I love how he gives every bit of glory and credit back to his Savior. But it’s pretty cynical to think we can actually understand or know a person from what we see through the lens of a camera. I don’t necessarily agree with his in-game antics, but it absolutely works for him, works for his coach and teammates, and for his fans. Can you honestly say you wouldn’t want that kind of passion and ability on our team?

by rhinoskin on Oct 19, 2009 7:41 AM CDT reply actions

any hatred of tebow

is based on inferiority, whether it be yourself, or the team you choose to cheer for, or whatever. the dude does everything right on and off the field. if/when i make a son, i want him to be like tebow. (i’m joking…but only a little bit…or maybe not at all).

now whether or not the media should be hated for their coverage of tebow is a different story.

He is a self-aggrandizing dick on the field...

for all of the “leadership”, he was sulking on the sideline the entire Ark game…he only pumped up his teammates (and his me-me-me crap) when something went well. I didn’t once see him praising the D, having a word with other players that were struggling. Just jumping up and down when HE did something fairly unremarkable…That’s not a leader.

That said, the problem is the media, not necessarily Tim…we all have Tebow fatigue.

I'm a super hypocrite for saying this

after having commented (multiple times) on this thread, but I wish we’d keep the talk about other teams (be it meltdowns (AU, UT, etc) or cases where the other teams is successful (esp. Florida) to a minimum when there is nothing productive being said. It makes us guilty of the same things we accuse Auburn fans of, and that is being obsessed with other teams (be it their successes or downfalls). We have so much going on that is positive, and plenty of concerns as well to talk about regarding our own team without “HAHAHA what are they thinking now of the CHIZNIK???” or “Tim Tebow Sukz.” I stand by my points about why I am bothered by Tebow, but it cannot be argued that he is a phenomenal athlete and a passionate team leader. Let’s leave him alone and prove our points on the field should we get the chance come December. He’ll get the chance to prove both his supporters’ and his detractors’ points by the way he conducts himself in a defeat to or win against Alabama. As far as the melt-down edition posts go, while they are a guilty pleasure of mine, I think they might should be posted as fanposts and not bumped onto or posted to the main page, unless Alabama is directly involved or mentioned. HATE! HATE! HATE!

I would love to get in on this Tim Tebow hate-fest.

I hate Time Tebow because he is a tool. I hate his stupid haircut. I hate the way he prances around on the field like an idiot under the guise of inspiring his teammates (sidenote: you know the rest of his team must hate his BS and get tired of him yelling and jumping and drawing all the cameras to himself. If Urban Meyer wasn’t constantly nuzzling Timmy they would probably complain about it). I hate that his dad had to supervise practice his first year. I hate that he cries about losing a game. I hate that I have to watch his stupid press conference breakdown 4-5 times a season. I hate the shot of him covered in paint and mud from the FSU game doing what he does best: drawing attention to himself. I hate the way he talks in interviews. I hate that I get reminded that his roommate is Riley Cooper every time he throws in his general direction (did you know that’s why they have such great chemistry?). I hate his smug demeanor on the sidelines. I hate the fact that everyone at the restaurant I was at during the Florida-Kentucky game was claiming the hit that gave Tebow the concussion was cheap and that the Kentucky player should get suspended for the rest of the season, just because the hit was on Tebow. I hate how disingenuous he seems every time he talks about it all being about the team. I hate his gimmicky run fake he makes on every passing play. I hate that I have to hear about him for another couple years (until he flames out in the NFL). Most of all, I hate that Gary Danielson gets a tebowner every time he watches Florida play.

I’m not saying he isn’t a good person or great football player. He’s obviously a great player and he seems like he’s probably a good guy, I just can’t stand him. Yes, the media attention he gets annoys me, but more than that, his very demeanor is insufferable to me.

Flame all you want. I hate Tim Tebow and nothings gonna change my mind.

P.S. Tennessee and Auburn are tied for a close second on my hate list, to make this comment relevant for this weekend.

Your hate of Tebow

is actually founded on truth. You however failed to mention how even the refs are in love with him. Who else but Tebow get’s back to back penalties called for his team for nothing?

By the way Tim Tebow always draws attention to himself. You want your kid to be like someone when he grows up…try Sam Bradford.

I hate the fact that he gets discussed ad nauseam during the coverage of games in which he is NOT PLAYING.*

I think the whole concussion affair really put this in perspective. Saturday night Moe Brown’s very scary injury was, to quote Erin Andrews, "just a concussion.’ C’mon!

*On the NFL level, this is also one of the many reasons I despise Brett Favre.

i echo NLS’s comment. we got bigger fish to fry than to worry about tebow. he doesn’t control the media anyways, so it’s not like he can do anything about uncle vern and gary’s weekly cream fest. (besides maybe seek a temporary order of protection from his local courthouse, which, is probably a good idea…)

after we kick his ass in the SECCG and send him to the orange bowl, and then after he gets cut from the NFL team that invites him to camp so they can sell pre-season tickets, then we can all laugh. until then, give the man his props and stop hatin.
