Your RBR Friday Random 10 is Truly Random

A tribute to Todd, since he likes this song so much...

This thing is all over the place this week. From the churning metal of Kylesa to the folk-ish Avett Brothers to the electronic bounce of Ladytron to the unclassifiable weirdness of Fantômas. My apologies that an Auburn band showed up in the mix, but hey, they're awesome. Anyway, you know the drill...

01: Fantômas - "Book1: Page 11"
02: Immortal Lee County Killers - "Let's Get Killed"
03: Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds - "Black Hair"
04: Radiohead - "Palo Alto"
05: The Avett Brothers - "I Would Be Sad"
06: Secret Chiefs 3 - "Welcome To The Theatron Animatronique"
07: Ozzy Osbourne - "Crazy Train"
08: Ladytron - "Destroy Everything You Touch"
09: Gogol Bordello - "I Would Never Wanna Be Young Again"
10: Kylesa - "Where the Horizon Unfolds"

now THAT'S some music

Is that the Springsteen Racing In The Street that Townes is doing? Either way Love Me Like A Rock, Seven Spanish Angels, and Country Feedback all are in my top 200 or so songs

i’m listening to classical music this morning and didn’t want to come across as a snobby douchebag.

Go ahead and post it...

…I’m listening to Mahler’s sixth symphony right now. So there, I’m the first snobby classical douchebag

I'm more of a modernist...

…and listen primarily to 20th and 21st century composers:

Shostakovich, Glass, Reich, Part, Tavener, Gorecki, Prokofiev, Khachaturian, Rautavaara, Takemitsu, Tan Dun, Penderecki, Bartok, Nielsen, etc. I’m getting into early music though and have been listening to the late romantics a bit too.

i'm pretty much all over the place...

…i’ve made it a habit of ripping every classical cd i lay my hands on and putting it on my hard drive then listening to it on random shuffle and deleting the works that get on my nerves. that said, lately i’ve been really into faure and sibelius for some reason.

Umm...

…because Sibelius is awesome. Scandanavia has produced some great composers (Sibelius, Nielsen, Rautavaara, etc.) but unfortunately the Germans, Italians, Russians and French seem to get all of the attention when it should be spread around some more. I’ve been cranking a good bit of Vaughan Williams lately.
