Did anyone watch the Kentucky/Auburn game last week?

I know, I know the bama game was on at the same time, but in between commercials I was flipping and checking in on the vatech/gatech game and the au/ky game. Near the end of the game when Kentucky was driving for the winning score, I noticed the stands were half empty? Auburn still had 3 minutes left to drive to tie or win the game but half the fans had went home.

Now I am not 100% on this so that is why I am asking if anyone else noticed this. I mean I remember the god awful Shula years but we still sold out games and had waiting lists to get season tickets and Auburn cant even sell out all their games this season and fans are leaving at the end of the game. Just sad.

FanPosts are just that; posts created by the fans. They are in no way indicative of the opinions of SBN and the authors of Roll Bama Roll.

Not good...

Auburn has had struggles selling tickets as of late. I know immediately before the season opener you could still go on their website and purchase season tickets, and even still get tickets to the Iron Bowl.

The official capacity of Jordan-Hare Stadium is 87,451, and they really haven’t came close to selling out for the most part this year. Only the West Virginia game was there a sellout in terms of “official” attendance matching the stadium’s listed capacity, and in the other games it hasn’t been close. The “official” attendance was only 81,000 for the Louisiana Tech game, 85,000 for MSU, and 83,000 for Ball State. And that is with the Auburn athletic department obviously playing with the numbers. Keep in mind that the listed “official” attendance for the Kentucky game was 86,217, which meant that there were only about a thousand empty seats. The only way that is true is that if about six or seven thousand people left at halftime (or before).

It’s been an issue for Auburn for a while now. They generally sold out during the height of Tubby’s tenure, but that has been about it. They struggled to sell tickets through a lot of the 1990’s, and if I remember correctly they only sold out something like two games in 1993, even when they were going undefeated with a first year coach and zero games on TV because of NCAA sanctions.

I don’t get it, really, I mean I’m not trying to bash Auburn here because you would legitimately think they could fill it up with no problem. Either way, I’m just glad it’s not an issue for us.

Well I am one of those people who bought auburn season tickets this year...

So I could go to an Iron Bowl at a reasonable price. I thought I was going to make some serious money off the rest of the tickets. I ended up making a little profit on them cause they started out 5-0 and luckily I sold all the tickets except the Iron Bowl before they lost a game. Now I am trying to sell my Iron Bowl tickets for a big profit because I cant go cause f***ing CBS moved the game to a Friday and I cant get the day off. I cant even watch the game cause I will be at work.(first time ever I dont get to at least watch the Iron Bowl on TV)

Anyways that is sorta why I was interested in their attendance. I have been on our waiting list for way too long and I can’t believe they are such fair weather fans they cant sell out games and Saturday half the fans leave when they have a chance to come back and win. Wtf! I have sat at BDS through some awful losses I never leave til that clock says 0:00. Respect the team and stay til the end.

36-0

They're instead purchasing tickets to Alabama games...

…hoping they can see us lose live in person.

After spending seven wondrous years in the state of Alabama, never in my life have I seen fans, who claim to be loyal to one team, spend more time AUbsessing over the other more so than they do their very own.

I

find this interesting since you always hear Auburn fans playing the elitist card by saying “at least I went to Auburn unlike 1/2 the bammers in this state.” The fact of the matter is that Alabama benefits greatly from fans who attended school elsewhere. I know season ticket holders who went to other schools such as UAB, Southern Miss, Troy, Montevallo, UNA, UAH, USA, etc. Even though you attended another school, you still love Alabama football. What school you went to doesn’t change that fact. And when you’ve finished school and actually have the resources to support the program, guess what? You support the program. I guess all this perfect sense if you think about it. After all, what legitimate reason is there to be an Auburn fan unless you went there?

The left...

…only because it was announced over the PA that Alabama had won.

Aubarn (AL) could win a game while Alabama loses simultaneously, yet they’d celebrate the Alabama loss rather than the AU victory.

If their weather was like Tuscaloosa...

…a lot of people prolly left because it was so freakin’ cold. That said, I still couldn’t believe so many people left BDS at halftime. The outcome was FAR from decided!
