I feel good
about our team right now. I’m not to overly concerned about LSU either. They have had horrible offensive production (until the barners) and not only that but they have a had a weak schedule too. I hope these guys get some well deserved rest and get mentally prepared to FINISH this season. Roll Tide.

I watched the Auburn Review Sunday and it always starts off in the locker room right after the game. He didn’t say that exactly:
“I felt at times in the Tennessee game that’s how we were playing. We want to be aggressive, and if we’re going to go down, let’s go down with guns ablazing. That’s how I want everybody to be thinking.”
The Tide is coming off a 12-10 victory over Tennessee that wasn’t settled until Terrence Cody blocked a 44-yard field-goal attempt on the game’s final play.
“The only way you play to lose is you’re affected by the circumstances around you,” Saban said.
“It’s like shooting a foul shot. If I’m shooting a foul shot and it’s not really meaningful because of the circumstances in the game and all of a sudden I’ve got to shoot a foul shot that really is meaningful, we certainly don’t want to shoot the foul shot any different than what we would that would give us the best chance to execute it and make it.
“Even though nobody makes 100 percent of them, you still want to be aggressive and focus on how to do it.

Penalties
I think we have all heard the random chatter about how Alabama and Florida are getting more calls than anyone else to keep them number 1 and number 2 in the polls. Here are a few stats from the always fabulous CFB Stats:
-Alabama is 49th in the country in penalties in a game at 52.9 yards a game.
-Florida is 12th in the country in penalties in a game at 42.3 yards a game.
-Alabama’s opponents are 52nd in the country in penalties in a game at 57.6 yards a game.
-Florida’s opponents are 63rd in the country in penalities in a game at 54.4 yards a game.
Alabama has a positive 4.7 yards a game average, where as Florida has a 12.1 yards a game. Not really sure you can draw any major conclusions, as they both seem to be within a pretty standard range. It should also be pointed out last year Florida was 96th in the country with 59.9 yards a game in penalties.
Also, there really has never been any sort of analysis that concludes that teams that get more penalties are less likely to win games
by Kenny483 on Oct 27, 2009 7:15 AM CDT reply actions 0 recs
what happens is that teams favored in such a way get additional scrutiny
not the least of which being additional TV time and more opportunities for dumbass announcers to run their mouth COUGHDANIELSONCOUGHCOUGH and add to the morass of misinformation.
nobody focuses on the fact that multi-directional land grant college is being unfairly penalized because nobody is watching them with regularity.

Second to last regular season loss
Does anyone realize that Alabama’s second to last regular season loss was to La Monroe, nearly two years ago. It is simply stunning how far this program has gone. Alabama is now 20-2 since the start of the 2008 season.

Even though I despise the AG Duo of Verne and Gary...
I’ve always given them the benefit of the doubt… until this incident during the Ark/UF game:
Mallet hooks up with Childs for a 75 yard pass play.
A UF defender catches Childs at the goalline and knocks the ball loose, which was then recovered in the endzone by another Arky WR (don’t know who). So whether or not Childs crossed the goalline before the ball was fumbled was irrelevent due to another Arky player recovering. No way this is not an Ark TD (sounds familiar… Cody… helmet… same outcome…).
The refs decide to review the play anyway (maybe to determine who actually scored the TD, Childs or the fumble recoverer), and Verne and Gary procede to do the most ignorant “back and forth” known to man:
Gary (excited about the fact that he’s Gary and you’re not): The refs are reviewing the play to see if the ball was fumbled going into the endzone, which would be a touchback, and Florida gets the ball on the 20. Looks very close, could go either way…
Verne (looking fat and inquisitive): So if Childs fumbled into the endzone before crossing the goalline, it’s a dead ball once it goes into the endzone and it’s Florida ball?
Gary (Realizing Verne just farted): Yes… Wait… No… the ball would not be dead, but if it went out of the endzone it would be a touchback and Florida ball…
Verne (while performing a Dirty Sanchez on Gary): Could it be an incomplete pass? (My Comment: Yes, dumbass! Childs caught the ball, ran it 75 F-in yards, potentially fumbled into the endzone, and it can be ruled an incomplete pass. Childs obviously didn’t get the minimum 150 feet in bounds to maintain possession…)
Gary (coming to his senses): What?!? This is an Arkansas touchdown no matter what, I’m not sure why they are even reviewing it…
So no longer to I keep my mouth shut concerning the ignorance of these two packers. I’d rather have Pelosi and Biden talking about House Majority and why Bipartisanship matters than listen to these two anymore…

redshirt or pass rusher??
Sophomore Jerrell Harris was practicing today with the outside linebackers, rather than his usual spot at inside linebacker. Harris played on the outside last season and could potentially be that third-down end rusher in Alabama’s defense.
You can see the article here

He was on our kickoff coverage
so I don’t think he’ll redshirt this year. That suspension really hurt his sophomore season. This pretty much ensures he’ll play at ’Bama for four years, regardless of what he does next year.

Ok, random Cocktail Party...
This week Tebow can break Herchel’s record. Which of the following would be most likely to have the Dawg faithful going all Masada/Jonestown?
1. Losing in a blowout, Tebow doesn’t get record against them?
2. Losing in o/t on a controversial call, Tebow gets the record?
3. Losing closely in a well-officiated, non controversial game, with Tebow getting the record?

And, to answer my own question (puts on Dawg fan hat)
I’d prefer #1. I’d rather lose a game badly that we are expected to lose badly and not have CBS et al stop the game to honor one our archrival for breaking the record that belongs to one of ours.
#2. Poor Dawgs, I hope this doesn’t happen, they’ve already been screwed once, and then to have Tebow honored? Dawg Sports might have an Emo Week
#3. The moral victory card, play-wise; but still subjects UGA to having the record broken against them. Probably the least humiliating of the three, I’d think, since it’s a matter of time till the record falls.

Since the start of the 2002 season, SEC teams are 52-39 after the bye week (57%). Also, SEC teams are 42-34 in conference games (55%) after a bye week. The best team has been Florida, and the worst team has been Ole Miss 1-10 after the bye week.

I'll say this...
No eternal reward will forgive us now for wasting the dawn….actually someone else already said that….what I meant to say was this:
I’m sick of all the bitchin’! If I didn’t know any better, I’d think we had a losing record this season based on how negative so many people seem to be about the team. Yes, it’s frustrating that we’re not blowing teams off the field given the flashes of brilliance our offense has shown this season but let’s be real. If anyone thought we were just going to coast through the season without any adversity to overcome, then they don’t understand football. And I would say our defense has overcome some MAJOR adversity this season already & we should be kissing the football gods’ big toe that we’re still undefeated. So people, lets give it a rest! Let’s count our blessings & be thankful to be in the position we’re in. No team is perfect okay. Last week we ripped the hope out of the hearts of the TN nation & we should roll in that like a dog in shit.

I'm happy, but not content!
I’m happy that Bama…
1) is 8-0
2) is in the driver seat of the SEC West and
3) has such great talent playing as a team completing ball games.
I’m not content with the facts that Bama has…
1) been sluggish in the red-zome
2) had so much trouble on covering kicks and
3) let other teams score touchdowns.
