Around SBN: Explaining Jeremy Lin's Early, Surprising Success

Redshirt freshman running back Adam Robinson likely will miss the rest of the regular season after suffering an ankle injury in Saturday's win against Michigan State.

The Hawkeyes lost sophomore running back Jewel Hampton, the projected starter entering the season, to a knee injury in preseason camp.

Ferentz also said starting right guard Dace Richardson will miss the rest of the regular season with a broken bone in his leg.

ESPN: Iowa Hawkeyes' Adam Robinson out for year

It goes without saying that you hate to see anyone get injured, regardless of the circumstances. In terms of 'Bama hopefully making the BCS Championship Game, though, we really need Iowa to lose so they don't spoil the party, and I'm sure these injuries won't help in a couple of weeks against Ohio State.

Really?

Why do we need a loss to a team Ranked under us? If we win out, we’ll play in that game and I for one would love to play Iowa.

If we drop one against LSU but win the SEC Championship game, we’d need that to happen.

If we drop one, and/or lose the SEC CG, it’s not going to matter, anyway.

Only if

it includes a Public Option

/don’t even know what that means
//honestly don’t think we should need that kind of “insurance”. Winning will take care of itself and i cannot bring myself to root against an undefeated team not in our conference of the offchance that it might help us down the road, maybe.

If we drop one...

…but beat UF, Cincy does not replace us in the BCSCG. Iowa or USC, maybe, but not Cincy.

SUC

SUC wouldn’t replace us either. not with their loss to Washington.

That's easy to say...
“If we win out…”

Again, that’s easy to say, but extremely difficult to do. This conference has produced four national champions in the past ten years, and none of them made it through conference play undefeated. And given the way we have played the past three weeks, there is absolutely no guarantees whatsoever that we can do that either.

So, until then, let’s try to get some insurance. I’d love to get Iowa in Pasadena, of course, but until we beat LSU, I’m pulling for them, Cincy, and Texas to lose.

Here's where...

…my Cincy comment belongs. Actually, if we beat UF with one loss, Texas and Iowa are the only teams that would appear to have a shot to keep us out of the big game…and that’s not guaranteed, especially if we beat a previously unbeaten UF team.

Bottom line: too many ifs to worry about now, Ima pull for us to win and disregard the rest until it matters…like the Ole Miss/AU game…and the UT/SC game…’cause a loss for either of those orange-clad maggot farms is always a good thing….

Speaking of the Barn...

do they win another game outside of Furman this year? I’ve got my money on “no”…
vs. Ole Miss, at UGA, vs. Alabama? I don’t see anything to get them to 7-5 on that schedule.

Mainly pulling for TX to lose.

And, trick-or-treat, I think that happens in T. Boone Pickens-ville this Weekend. The B12 is playing really bad ball this year, and there is literally no competition to be had from B12N teams. And, their B12S rivals are down and/or just bad (aTm, OU, TT).

With respect to the Hawkeyes: Iowa is going to do OSU in a big time way (in b10(11) terms that’s like 6 points!) I am much more concerned about them beating the middling teams that they always seem to lose to…usually at home no less. (all eyeballs on Purdue this w/e).

I’d love to get Iowa in Pasadena

I disagree with you on this sentiment. It’s been a long time (too long) since Alabama has played for a NC. Wouldn’t you rather it be against a USC or Texas vs. a ‘default’ Big10 team that makes it in only because that conference is even more pathetic than usual this year?
