ESPN Article re Phillip Sims & Saban
By Ian Rapoport no less. About commitments doing some recruiting.
"I'm not a guy who wants to just come in and be the only big name of the class," said Sims, who also considered Georgia, Florida State and Tennessee. "I mean, if I feel like we need to get other guys in here to get a better team, I'll do it. Recruiting is fun and everything, but winning is more important."

Nice! He looked very good his opening game that was on the U. Look forward to him and AJ battling for the starter position
in 2011.
Anyone know where you can check the stats of the 09 season of our recruits?
36-0

Talked to him Saturday at the game. He said he is ready to get here in January and make a contribution to the team. Really smart and heady guy.
I thought we might lose him to UT or another school before meeting him, but now I know he is 100% Tide.

Is there any way Sims will get a fifth star from Rivals?
MATRIX: Bennett, I thought you were--
BENNETT: Dead? You thought wrong. Ever since you had me thrown out of the unit, I've been waiting to pay you back. Do you know what today is, Matrix? Payday.

I like this guy already
I hate the NCAA more than UT & AU combined. At least with UT & AU you got a fighting chance.

Having too many great QB prospects is a good problem to have, but....
When will we give a QB a full three years to start. Alabama seems to be following trend of starting a QB in his junior year, which only gives us one year of peak performance.
Pete Carroll’s risk with starting Barkley as a freshman could pay great dividends for USC. The future will be the judge but having a QB for three years with a year of collegiate experience sounds like a great thing barring injury.

We've done that for years...
Wilson was a three-year starter. Croyle was a three-year starter, and even got a few starts as a freshman. Both Zow and Watts split time as starters for all four years. Freddie was a three-year starter. Barker started for three and a half years. Traditionally, that’s what we’ve done.
But I’m certainly not complaining about McElroy and co. waiting for a few years to take over the reigns. You don’t get them for as long, but you also don’t get anywhere near the youthful mistakes that we got with the others either.

With McElroy being a junior, how do you see the starting postion working out in the next few years?
With McCarron, Jackson, Darrah, and now Simms in the mix.

I see...
…Darrah out of the mix, Jackson fighting like hell to earn time on the field from the other two freaks of nature…but that’s just a wild guess, as there’s way too much that can happen between now and then.
