Hightower said he tore the ACL, MCL and Meniscus in his left knee when he went down during a September game against Arkansas.
"I pretty much have a brand-new knee," Hightower said.
Gentry Estes:Tide's Hightower recovering from multiple ligament tears in knee
Well, that closes the book on exactly what was injured with Hightower's knee. That sounds pretty nasty, I'm afraid, but fortunately Dont'a still seems positive and optimistic, so I imagine we'll see him back next year by the time Fall practice rolls around.

I hope . . .
I had heard it was really messed up and unfortunately you have to think that all bets are off as to whether he can ever make it back full strength and be the same kind of player he was. Lets hope for his and our sakes he can. It would be really sad if he can’t. And it is really hurting us on the pass rush this year — we are almost back to where we were last year in terms of DE pressure. Its like our cornerbacks are our best pass rushers. Nico and Jerrell just don’t seem to be the same kind of player Dont’a was — and hopefully will be again.

I think it's good
that he did the same thing Tom Brady did because Brady is back. The problem is, Hightower is a linebacker and there’s no telling how agile and fast he’ll be next year and in the future.
Football gods, send me Dont’a’s injury!
MATRIX: Bennett, I thought you were--
BENNETT: Dead? You thought wrong. Ever since you had me thrown out of the unit, I've been waiting to pay you back. Do you know what today is, Matrix? Payday.

Question
“I’ve talked to (surgeon) Dr. (Lyle) Cain and (team trainer) Jeff Allen, and they say my progress is good,” Hightower said.
I thought his surgery was by Dr. Andrews in Birmingham? Are these guys associates, you think?

It was
done by Dr. Andrews’ team. Dr. Andrews sits in on the surgery to supervise.

Damn. It might take more than a year for him to get back to 100% (or as close as he can to 100%). I wonder how this might affect his decision to leave after next year. I’d rather have him dominate for 1 year than be hampered by his injury and stay for 2.

little late on this one
but is anyone else pissed off at the hit on Hightower? F’ing helmet to the knee seems super cheap to me. It is just as bad as the tackle on Brady except this guy meant to put his helmet into his knee… where is the NCAA on protecting its players, all this bullshit about leading off tackles with your helmet, etc. The one that resulted in serious injuries they don’t say a peep

I JUST had surgery to repair these very same tears, and the doctors told me that I can start playing sports again after about 9 months.

Are you Dont'a Hightower?
If so, I’m a big fan. Do you do autographs? And who do I need to talk to in order to meet Julio?

That's real smooth.
You just meet a guy, and then you immediately ask to meet his teammate. Feed his ego a little more, and then worry about meeting the superstar teammate later on. : )

Are you implying Dont'a is NOT a superstar?
For shame.

Not at all,
OTS’s comment just seemed to imply that he was just using Dont’a to meet Julio, that’s all.
