Not sure what everyone else thought...
but I wasn’t impressed with the way Bama played today. Gave up way too many rushing yards and had some let downs in the secondary again. The defense had some big plays but most of those came from 1 man…Ro….This team is still not playing to their potential and with the competition getting ready to stiffin up a bit I hope Saban and company can crank things up a notch here going down the stretch…
From the 1:00 mark in the 1st quarter until the 1:00 mark in the 2nd quarter,
we outscored them 31-7. Other than that they beat us 13-7.
Jefferson picked of in the endzone, Boykin brings it out
Georgia starts at their own two.
Beat me to it...
Why on earth did he bring it out of the endzone?

Congratulations, ladies and gentlemen.
Good, almost mistake-free football on your part. Noble victory, and well earned.
A Sea of Blue -- Kentucky Sports for the Discerning Fan
i think mistake-free might be a forgiving assesment
but you guys clearly had a plan to deal with us on both sides of the ball and did a hell of a job executing it.
If we could only ...
… stop the silly late hits, roughing, etc. I would agree about the execution.

You guys put up a hell of a fight

LSU: 3, UGA: 0
LSU easily drives all the way down the field before crashing at the end of the drive again. Settles for a chip-in field goal.
I think our
run defense will not be very good until Jerrell Harris comes back. Reamer is a good outside linebacker but he just isn’t big enough to completely stop the run like Hightower did.
This upcoming season I'm gonna refer to Julio Jones as "The Magic Man" and Trent Richardson as "El Diablo"

Reamer
just isn’t good enough to play inside linebacker is what I’m saying. I wish we would let Chris Jordan replace Hightower till Harris comes back. Rolando said Jordan could play the middle linebacker position very well.

In our defese's... defense
They set up 14 points for us, scoring 6 on their own and that is after spending the majority of the first half on the field holding the cats to 2 field goals during our first road game. Sure they gave up 20. They also got 3 picks, one for six. IMHO, they did fine.

Being from Gadsden I am a Jerrell Harris fan
But he hasn’t shown us anything yet. Nothing against him. He hasn’t had the chance. Largely due to his own behavior
"Hell, no! A tie is like kissing your sister!"
Again picking on my Gadsden boys
Dre Kirkpatrick has now cost us 30 yards in personal foul penalties in 2 weeks. He is a freshman though.
"Hell, no! A tie is like kissing your sister!"
Reamer actually played pretty well
But he really isn’t big enough in this system. There were at least two plays where he made a tackle but got knocked back, allowing the back to get two or three extra yards.
Charles Scott really isn't that good.
He got a lot of attention last year, but he was a creation of the offensive line. The interior line isn’t that good this year, and Scott is doing the old run-into-the-line-fall-down routine.
LSU v. UGA is an ugly game to date...
Georgia gets all of one first down in the entire first half, and they go to halftime trailing only 6-0. A couple of really bad decisions by Miles at the end of the first half cost LSU a few points.
Both teams look really sloppy, but honestly given the way we played earlier in the day we really do not have much room to talk.

OTS what did you think about the d today in a nutshell
I have been defending them but maybe I am being overly optomistic
"Hell, no! A tie is like kissing your sister!"
they looked very out-of-sync
but you’d have to check with ots to get a sense of if it was more a result of kentucky’s game plan or our trying to cope with the loss of hightower.
Eh...
… I’ll have more up in the initial impressions piece, but it wasn’t pretty. The offensive play-calling and offensive gameplan was very poor, special teams continued to struggle (particularly in kick coverage), and the defense probably played its worst game since 2007.
On the other hand, we won with ease so you cannot complain too much, but I think it’s clear we are going to have to play much better today moving forward. I don’t think we could have beaten LSU or Ole Miss (or perhaps a few more remaining teams on our schedule) with our performance today.

I don't get Georgia
I have absolutely no idea if this team is good, if they’re bad, what their strengths and weaknesses are. The only phase of the game I’m sure about is that they’ve got a good punter.
And Caleb King...
… is not the next Herschel Walker after all. Big shock.
Just think… they are only 0-23 on getting the next Herschel Walker. I really thought this one was the one.

Agreed
However, Julio has been hurt, and we have other weapons. UGA’s offense right now is “Throw it to AJ and hope.”
True, but still...
… if you be honest about it, Green has played better to date. He has produced at a much higher level — both in total or on a per games played basis — and he has done so with less talent around him and an inferior quarterback throwing him the ball.
Got to give credit where it’s due.

Even against Arkansas we ran for 134 yards, and ran for another 204 today against Kentucky. Both of those have run defenses better than anything we’ve seen out of LSU this year.

keep in mind. alabama isn't suddenly a "bad" team...
but we’ve got a number of very specific weaknesses that folks like OTS, Nico and Todd have been outlining since august at least. given the overall level of ability in our conference, that’s a problem. and when we show up unmotivated to play we give these teams enough of an edge to steal an upset.
I think we saw about 20 minutes of flat football today
However I will agree that Kleph and OTS’s assessment is always more indepth than mine. I just love the win. I am still remembering 4 years ago when we were all screaming about a last minute Christensen fg win two weeks in a row.

It is watching games like lsu-uga
that make me feel not as bad about our performance today (although I was less than thrilled with it). I will gladly look bad in winning by 18 than lose a slap-fight like uga did today. If I am lucky ut will make me feel even better by winning 2-0 on a snap that goes over the auburn punter’s head and out the back of the endzone.

win. Notre Dame and LSU have to pull game after game out of their ass. We play our best when challenged, and today, coming out completely flat, we still won by several scores.

Scoring against Alabama will be like birthing a child: rare, painful, and messy. - The Ghost of Jay Cutler
chizik is a complete doofus but i'll give him credit for one thing
he’s let his coaching staff do their jobs instead of micromanaging things into disaster. its too early to say if that’s cause he learned a lesson in ames or he just really has no power on the staff. but the fractious bullshit in the coaching staff that led to last year’s meltdown is clearly been resolved.
The funny thing about Tennessee
is that they have a veteran team. It’s not like Kiffin walked into a coaching job for a team without any talent. They have a lot of seniors on offense and defense and they’re struggling. Who will be their quarterback next year?
Auburn has what, 75 guys on scholarship?

the fourth quarter thread
over at CGB is starting as strong as the others…
Riley can’t hit
the broadside of his mom
They do...
…every day they step foot on their respective campuses.

I'm slightly amazed
at how well auburn is playing. considering a complete coaching change. all the different offensive coordinators they have seen. it speaks well of malzahn that he could just waltz in and make an offense work so well in so little time.
so easy... even an Auburn fan can do it!
Actually...
…I think it speaks louder at what a mess Tubby and crew made of what was a pretty decent gig for them.

don't get too impressed
they are playing a team with the same circumstances, new coaches et al.
Additionally, the team they are playing is just pathetic on both sides of the ball right now.
I’d withhold judgement on auburn until they play a competent arkansas team next week
again
franklin’s revelations made it pretty clear there were a lot of power games going on in the coaching staff under tubbs. eliminating that went a long way to allowing the team to actually perform. malizahn may or may not be a better offensive genius. but he certainly didn’t have to fight his fellow coaches to get his offense installed.
does that mean auburn’s solved all its problems and is on the way to a resurgence? well, that’s a different question entirely, no isn’t it?
my best guess at a reply to your statement
is auburn had a lot of under utilized talent
so easy... even an Auburn fan can do it!
lets face it. if you are going to try and compete with saban on the recruiting trail
you are going to bring in some talent even if you don’t get close to matching his efforts.
Uhhh...
…was I supposed to be wecwuiting?

Auburn has closing problems
Is it a depth problem that they keep having trouble finishing teams off?
If you mean...
…depth of character…or intellect…then yes, yes it is.

my free internet stream
keeps dropping… ugh… can’t watch the game anymore. and justin.tv just went to a password protected view of the game… gey
so easy... even an Auburn fan can do it!
uga/lsu
i still can’t get over those celebration penaltis in the uga/lsu game. what a nightmare. I’d be furious if i were a dawg fan. but, thankfully i’m not, so don’t really give a shit.
but still, that was just outrageous. I think uga wins without that whistle
One of the...
…worst rules in the game.

i'm furious as a fan of an sec school
i’d much prefer if the zebras would concentrate on calling penalties that place players life in danger – like the never-called horsecollar tackle.
Did Todd Blackledge say that Auburn lost to themselves last year or did I just mishear that?
I mean, that wouldn’t surprise me if that had happened, but still..
UT + AU = UTAU?

I can’t believe the the folks in charge of this kind of thing asked these players to play football in front of 100k+ people in those FULL ORANGE JUMPSUITS
It's...
…not that orange you can sit with…

Why are they saying that Auburn's offense is so awesome?
When Tennessee’s offense is that bad, their defense is going to get worn down so much that you can’t help but score 26 on them.
Crompton must be hurt...
…’cause he just threw a TD pass.
