Ole Miss Game at 2:30 on CBS
The Alabama vs. Ole Miss game will be a 2:30 kickoff, and part of a CBS double-header, with Florida-LSU coming at 7:00. I haven't read a press release confirming this, but the information was buried within Don Kausler's run-down of the Top 25 poll released earlier today. From the article:
Changes in the poll could be coming in the next week or two. Florida visits No. 4 LSU (5-0) at 7 p.m. CDT Saturday in a game that will be televised nationally by CBS.
Alabama visits Ole Miss (3-1), which had been ranked No. 4 before a 16-10 loss on Sept. 24 at South Carolina. The 2:30 p.m. CDT game will be televised nationally by CBS. The Rebels dropped to No. 21 last week and now are ranked No. 20. They are coming off a 23-7 victory at Vanderbilt.

I voted
for 2:30. I don’t want to have to wait until the evening to play.

Danielson and Lundquist’s staggeringly horrific inability to grasp or apply fundamental concepts of logic or reason are sufficient to make me never, ever, ever want to watch them broadcast again. I watched a full quarter and a half of the LSU/UGA game on mute last weekend.

Gary and Verne
Will be doing the LSU-Florida game. I imagine one of CBS’s NFL duos will be doing the Alabama game.
Also, I don’t really get the hatred of Verne and Gary. I wouldn’t say I like them, but I wouldn’t say I like any play by play other than Ron Franklin and at times Musberger. Fowler seems okay at times too. Most announcers are bad. And I don’t like any color guys in the college game other than maybe Herbstreet and Blackledge. My biggest complaint about Danielson is he’s lazy, he’ll lock into his 2-3 stars and do nothing but yap on them the whole game. IE, why isn’t Julio getting the ball?
But let’s hear it, who’s better in the college game?

Eh
I like Gus Johnson, don’t get me wrong, but I can’t recall him ever doing a college football game.
My ideal pair would be Ron Franklin and Chris Collinsworth I guess, but unfortunately I don’t see Collinsworth ever doing a college game either.

Collinsworth would be pro-Gator

I like Danielson, I think he’s a major upgrade from Blackledge. He’s a little smug sometimes (when he’ll predict something that happens shortly thereafter) and he definitely locks in on the superstars, but he does know the game.
Verne is simply lost. He blunders every other play, calls players by the wrong names and misses 75% of the penalties. Verne should stick to golf, it is slow enough for him.

We might...
…like Danielson, too, if his blackface were from having his nose buried in our QB’s backside….

Verne and Danielson suck
They are lazy, and DO lock into their two favorite players. However, no one can be as bad as Andre Ware and whats his name, along with the vast suckage that is the SEC Network and their ridiculous quantity of errors in everything they do. I actually miss the shitty quality of Jefferson Pilot/Lincoln Financial/Raycom sports.
I will say, Blackledge and his co anchor are my favorites, along with Herbstreit. I really think Musberger has a stroke before every game, because he is the most BLAND and unemotional announcer.

Apparently the execs. at CBS
don’t watch their product, because if they did, those two jerk-offs would be unemployed. Also, am I the only one that heard the remark Verne L. made about Mark Ingram during the Arkansas game?
by CousinEddie on Oct 5, 2009 6:04 PM CDT reply actions 0 recs
They only talked about it all week on f-baum.
Very unnecessary but not that bad.My main beef is Verne is an idiot. Half the game he is getting the names wrong and even the teams wrong.
36-0

Verne gave the same tired story
about Ingram’s dad being in jail. The same story that they have recited at least 100 times before. On the next play from scrimmage, Ingram got the ball and was immediately surrounded by four Arkansas defenders. Verne then proceeds to say that the Arkansas defenders had the younger Ingram “in jail”. Very tacky.

I'm grateful...
…I had to watch that game with the sound off. What an ass. He ought to have to issue a public apology for that.

I'd invite Eli Gold to do the game from my living room
but I don’t want to have to order another Chick-Fil-A party platter.
