Looks like some real changes at LB this week. Reamer was back with the OLBs today at practice. Tana and Nico could be candidates at Will.

I said this late last night on Twitter, and I will reiterate here
Ole Miss is a physical, power-rushing team that will be looking to establish the run between the tackles. Against that kind of offense, Cory Reamer is not the kind of physical build that you need playing the Will.
Expect to see Chris Jordan get a much expanded role this week, and Nico Johnson should get some snaps as well (which he hasn’t to date, except in mop-up duty in OOC play). Also, don’t be surprised in the least if Tana Patrick gets in the game here. We have redshirted him to date, and it’s clear that our preference is to keep the redshirt on him, but realistically speaking we may very well need him this week.
At the very least, this Anders-McClain-Reamer-Upshaw package isn’t going to be it moving forward into this game. I don’t think our staff wants Reamer at Will against this kind of opponent, and I imagine that they feel our defensive struggles last week were at least partially the result of having all of the linebackers re-shuffle their roles as much as they did.
If I’m wrong then I’m wrong, but I’m thinking the starting LB rotation this weekend will be Reamer-McClain-Jordan-Anders.

I don't know squat technically,
but I heard Upshaw’s name a lot last week. It seemed like he was doing okay. Didn’t he have an interception?

He grabbed the fumble
that McClain popped out of the KY player’s hands.

Speaking of LBs...
…this is a little off-topic, but I saw Andre Ware’s Heisman top five list, and at #2 he had Rolando McClain.

Yes and no
When Nutt isn’t coaching with his head up his ass … i.e. the first 2/3 of the South Carolina game … he uses Bolden and Eason between the tackles, occasionally (and effectively) with 22 in the wildcat. He’ll also put Snead in the shotgun and have 22 in motion, for real (and fake) end arounds, which stretches the field wide. Obviously, all of that sets up Snead’s passing game.
So, it’s a power running game, but with a critical sideline to sideline speed element that keeps defenses honest. If they fail to get 22 involved, that power running game will break down because their O line is terrible and Bolden and Eason are no Coffee and Ingram. The Rebel receivers aren’t particularly special, but Nutt counts on the D stacking the box and Snead exploiting one on one coverage outside, often out of play-action. In other words, for Ole Miss’ offense to work, it absolutely has to be balanced. If we can keep them off-balance, take away just one of these options, we should dominate.
I cannot overstate how terrible the O line looked against the Gamecocks. They were OK in the ‘Cat, sorta OK in the straight running game, but abysmal in the passing game. South Carolina was getting pressure with 3-4 guys. That won’t work against us. I guarantee Nutt is hyping this as Ole Miss’ Super Bowl and it basically is. But running on emotion will last, oh, about 5 minutes. He better coach those kids up, otherwise it’ll be a looong day in Oxford.

No doubt
Reamer appears to be too small or not strong enough to play inside. Remember he was a db when we signed him. UK did exploit us on the run and they are not the best running game we will face. Reamer seemed to be in position, and made some tacklse but seemed to back up as he made the tackle
I agree with OTS we either need Jordan, Johnson, or Patrick at Will. I wonder if Jordan is big enough. He is listed as 220. That is not as big as Reamer who is listed as 234 but he looks thin to me. I can’t believe he is really 234 but he is tall.
Patrick is listed as 235. I’m not sure how good Patrick is, but I sure like 235 better than 220. You hate to blow a redshirt, but you hate more to blow a game. We need some bulk in the middle to replace Hightower.
At any rate a change is in order and you hate changing before a big game but I’d rather change now, even if we lose, than to lose and say, “We should have changed.”
I hate the NCAA more than UT & AU combined. At least with UT & AU you got a fighting chance.
I would imagine...
… that Jordan is bigger than 220 pounds. He’s certainly no McClain-esque 260, but I imagine he’s a solid 230-235.

Would we burn a redshit to put these two in?

That's what I thought, too.

Keep in mind that Nico has played a good bit already...
… the only redshirt at state is Tana Patrick.
