Pregame Thoughts- Week 6 Edition

The Tide is just getting into the middle of their schedule starting to play some harder ranked teams in the conference.  McElroy and his crew will be traveling over to Oxford to face the (3-1) #20 ranked Ole Miss team.

OFFENSE:

Alabama will be looking to punch Ole Miss in the mouth with their explosive run game going up against Mississippi's great rush defense.  That should be quite a clash of teams.  Even if Ole Miss is able to stop our rush offense, then we still have McElroy throwing to Collin Peak and Marquis Maze, and hopefully Julio Jones will have that breakout game we have been looking for and McElroy will finally throw him the ball when open.

DEFENSE:

I think there is no need to question the Crimson Tide on the other side of the ball with arguably the best defense in the nation- the best in the SEC at least.  UA has allowed 222 yards per game on average coming up against an offense that has not proven to be a huge success, though they have averaed 373 yards per game which could be considered average.  I am hoping to keep this Rebel team to 13 or so.  They might get 1-2 TD's and probably at least 2 field goals.

SPECIAL TEAMS:

For Alabama there is nothing too special about them (kickoff coverage that is).  We have had much trouble this year on simply tackle the guy after we kick it.  This will hopefully not prove to be a problem, but it would not be a shocker if they brought one back, or at least past the 50.

Our kick and punt return is a different story though, with the best punt returner in the SEC and top 5 in the nation.  Javier Arenas is a madmen with the ball and can juke and elude tacklers like crazy.  He lead the nation last year with 650 punt return yards and set the Alabama Crimson Tide single-season record.  6 TD's in his career at Bama shows that when our amazing D can make 'em punt, Arenas can make 'em pay for it.

End score is looking like 31-13 to me, what are your thoughts?

I think one of the keys will be the pass rush...

both our ability to pick up/elude theirs and generate one of our own.

Yes...

Alabama will be looking to punch them in the mouth, and it will be quite a clash of teams… good analysis dude!
