Tell Us Your Thoughts About the Alabama Defense, Mr. Beuerlein
As you are probably aware, the Alabama/Ole Miss contest on Saturday will be the first game of a SEC double header on CBS. In the booth Vaught-Hemingway Stadium in Oxford will be play-by-play announcer Craig Bolerjack along with analyst Steve Beuerlein.
Beuerlein was a star quarterback for Notre Dame during the mid-1980s. His 6,527 career passing yards puts him third in in Notre Dame history and he still holds the school record for best single game completion percentage (90.0% vs Colorado on Sept. 22, 1984). Still, Alabama fans remember him best for this particular play in 1986.
FanPosts are just that; posts created by the fans. They are in no way indicative of the opinions of SBN and the authors of Roll Bama Roll.

Wish a Bennett "Fat Head"
could be put up behind him in the booth.

You know he braces himself
everytime he has to call a Bama game. That clip is awlays on standby. And, hopefully, they will need some filler when we’re up big early in the game.

Actually it's a bit funny...
… if you listen to Beuerlein recall “The Sack,” he does so quite fondly. He is pretty open about the fact that he doesn’t remember any of it, and obviously it didn’t do anything to hurt his career, so there’s no personal baggage for him with it.
In fact, he actually embraces the legacy of the play. I read an article a couple of years back that he actually owns one of the massive, artist originals of the Daniel Moore painting that he has hanging in his home. And signed by Cornelius Bennett, naturally.

And that, ladies and gemtleman,
is why we have replay. That ball was WAY out before Beuerlein hit the ground.

If we lose tomorrow...

that's funny...
i thought game planning, execution and consistent play were what we needed to ensure a victory. we’ll go and check and see if the team has the proper hamsa adorning you locker room as soon as possible.

I apologize, directly to you and the rest of my Bama bretheren, in advance then
[imagine, if you will?: that point in which Yosemite Sam’s face becomes beet-red with anger and those pipes shooting out a cloud of steam]: That was me, last night contemplating the gumption to post my comment.
You gotta understand bamavicki. . . . kleph’s video, words, and the comments that I read HAD ME ROLLING ON THE GROUND IN A MASSIVE FIT OF LAUGHTER! It was excruciating for me to post my comment. (you remember, eh? jiminy christmas! that’s some memory!)
Although exhilirating, yet equally painful. . . .I HAD TO get in on this. Biscuit is one of my all-time favorite players, for pretty much- ever! Seriously, whenever I see this clip- I can only “imagine” what it would be like to be Steve Beuerlein on that day? and then I think, “F_ck yeah, I’d be mad as hell!” if I were him. I’d get up in all the ref’s grill asking them, "What do ya mean “fumbled”? " I didn’t the fumble the ball. I wasn’t even IN ON THE PLAY? What the f_ck JUST HAPPENED?" (that’s how hard Biscuit clocked his ass! poor m-fer layed out some serious lumber with that one. beuerlein is STILL dealing with that concussion. so are any of his currently living progeny!!!!)
So, for reals bamavicki! Getting in on this thread was a major “must” for me.

and AFTER we win...
you can come back and keep us rolling on the ground in massive fits of laughter FOR THE REST OF THE SEASON!

Duuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuudette!
How’d you. . . .? Where’d you get th. . . . . .? THAT’S ME!
I seriously was crying (but without any tears. . . .yet) ’cause I was laughing so hard for so long after “Cool Story Bro!” (that was definitely the Pick-6 Play of the Thread). Oh, and. . . .by the way- I ended up crying because I was so looney-tuned, that when I realized that I actually COULD NOT STOP LAUGHING, I became so sorry for myself- I started cryng. Call it, angst?
You think I’m funny? . . . . . .How YOU doin’?

Clausen, Clauson, Santa Claus...whatever.
We will also have to endure the time to get the ND quarterback into the heisman race during our game now.

one interesting footnote worth mentioning this week...
beuerlein was knocked out by the force of that hit and diagnosed with a concussion. still, he was on the field next week the next week in south bend to lead the irish to a narrow 10-9 win over pittsburgh.
the point here is that while the clinical understanding of the danger posed to players by such injuries has grown enormously over the past twenty years but the common perception of it really has not.

It probably would have been a good idea to at least try to block Bennett…..

Um, why?
Then he couldn’t have hit him.

I could watch that clip about 100 times in a row
and not get tired of it. That, along with the highlight of George Teage running down Lamar Alexander and stripping the ball in the 1992 Sugar Bowl, and the Goal Line Stand against Penn State in the 1979 Sugar Bowl are the three best defensive plays I have ever seen by any team, Alabama or otherwise, pro or college.

Because you brought it up
The Strip! (or the Takeaway, as more recent branding would call it)
But seriously, I hadn’t watched The Sack in forever—and wooooosh. It’s just devastating!
Never quit. It is the easiest cop-out in the world.

Gary Danielson
will be doing more of that fag talk Saturday night.
I prefer Beurlein.
