Tide vs. Fighting Irish back in talking stages

Would love to see this played in New York

http://blog.al.com/tide-source/2009/11/tide_vs_fighting_irish_back_in.html

TUSCALOOSA -- A future Alabama-Notre Dame football game, possibly at a neutral site, has been the subject of casual discussions, officials at both schools say.

The preliminary talk appears to be more than wishful thinking but far from becoming reality.

"Is it a deal we would like to see? Yes," Notre Dame Athletics Director Jack Swarbrick said Monday.

"Will we be able to? That's a lot less clear."

Notre Dame's contract with NBC and the Southeastern Conference's contracts with CBS and ESPN present obstacles. Notre Dame is committing to play seven home games, four road games and one game at a neutral site in future seasons. NBC owns the rights to the neutral-site games through the end of its contract, in 2015.

Alabama Athletics Director Mal Moore says 2012 would be the earliest a game against Notre Dame could be arranged.

Moore said Jacksonville, New Orleans and New York could be possible sites for a game against Notre Dame.

The NYC game would be friggin' epic...

…though it’d be more of a home game for them. New Orleans might be too. It’d be cool to do this one in Dallas too at the new stadium out there.

I think if tens of thousands of folks

are willing to travel en masse to the Rose Bowl for a regular season game, we’d get some decent representation in Gotham, no?

I don't doubt that tons of us would travel up there...

…I’m just saying there are trainloads of ND alums and subway alumns in the NE and it’d be an easy trip for them given the superiority of intercity transportation up north. Just saying it’d be about as “neutral” as the FSU game in Jacksonville.

FWIW...

…I’d love to see it in NYC. I’m long overdue for a trip up there. I haven’t been since early 2001.

+1

Last I was in NYC was in March of 04, but it was for an academic thing so I didn’t really get to do much. Summer of 01 was the first and only time I’ve been there for leisure. We play them in NYC and I’m totally there, whether I have tickets to the game or not.

Hate New York...

Chicago and Miami are tied for 2nd on “horrid cities for which residents display unwarranted pride”.

I instead propose

playing in Sapporo, Vancouver, Sydney or Riga.

That would be awesome...

the new stadium in Dallas is something to behold. It’d be an amazing venue to resurrect this rivalry.

Our record against Notre Dame isn’t very good, is it? How cool would it be to fix that now…

I say we play them....

at Boise St. on the blue field, oh wait, then play Boise St in NYC, or how about ND in the Georgia Dome since we own it already.

I don't mind bad news, and I don't mind good news, but I can't stand surprises! Coach Nick Saban

Jacksonville! Bama fans would flock, but they would to New Orleans or Atlanta also.

vomit

No more games in Jacksonville, please. The parking around the stadium sucks and there’s not much to do there besides go to the landing, which isn’t that awesome anyhow. I’ll take New Orleans or Atlanta, but never again Jacksonville.

Honestly, we should play them.....

in one of the following cities…..

1. Washington D.C.
2. New Orleans
3. St. Louis
4. New York

Add Chicago

Bama vs. ND in Soldier Field would be pretty awesome. It’s hella close to ND, but Chicago is awesome.

Living in the D.C. area myself,

seeing Alabama play here would be an awesome experience.

Dallas or NYC would be fine..

..but I would actually prefer this series to be home-and-home if possible.

I do not want the game in...

NYC!! I’ve never been there and I really don’t ever want to! Now, in Dallas… That’d be plain ol AWESOME!!!
