So, ESPN Now considers Ingram the frontrunner
I've got mixed feelings about this, but the "experts" all seem to agree about this. Ingram has 10 of the 15 votes over there, and no other player has more than 2.
Assuming we get past MSU, Chatt and Auburn, it might come down to the SECCG. The votes are cast directly after that game, and if either Ingram or Tebow comes up large, the winner might win the Heisman.
Thoughts? I think I'd like to see the man win it, but I hope it doesn't ever ruin the team first approach that we are all about.

Colt McCoy
will win because he will carry all votes west of the Miss. Colt will put up big numbers in Big 12 CG.
And as far as SECCG Ingram will be ok but his numbers can not be that good against the UF defense. Not saying Bama won’t win, but it will be our D plus Julio if we take the SEC.
Ingram is the cool popular pick at the moment, but the Heisman is very regional in voting and Ingram & Tebow will spilt the South and East while McCoy will dominate out West. I’ll just be happy if Tebow doesn’t win it.
I hate the NCAA more than UT & AU combined. At least with UT & AU you got a fighting chance.

True that may be
but geo. most of the votes are still East of the big muddy. Assuming either TT or MI have a monster SECCG, I think the winner of that game also gets the stiff armed bronze trophy.

the Houston QB might split votes with McCoy though. I hope Ingram continues to dominate, and let the trophy come if it will.

there was a booth to get your photo with the heisman trophy...
…near the strip before the game saturday. i think it was a promotion for nissan, one the the award sponsors. i thought it very telling that it was pretty much empty and they were begging people in the street to take part. call us back when you have a crystal football.

It would be great, but.......
after listening to one of the Bama offensive lineman on the radio this morning, they all seem to be more focused on going undeated and winning the SEC. Stay focused on your assignment young man!

If Tebow wins the Heisman...
…after we beat Florida in the SECCG, I won’t complain a bit. If McCoy wins it before we beat Texas in the BCSCG, I won’t complain a bit…and I bet Mr. Ingram won’t, either.
But we’ll both laugh…a lot….

Selfishly I hope he doesn't win...
….since the winner’s team has gone on to lose their bowl the last several years.

That's not selfish.
That’s team-first.

Off the top of my head...
…the only teams that I can think of where a player won the Heisman and his team won the MNC….was Charlie Ward-FSU ‘93, Charles Woodson-Michigan ’97, and Matt Leinart-’04….they’re probably more.

It's an external factor
It’s something outside of the team’s control and should be treated as such. The whims of the media are about as random and unpredictable as the weather. If he gets it, that’s great. If not, oh well. Ingram and Saban should express gratitude, say all the right things about what an honor it is and so forth, and invoke the 24 hour rule. The next day, it’s back to work preparing for the National Championship game.
There’s no curse associated with the trophy unless the players let themselves believe there is. Just like there was no curse associated with us being on GameDay, with us being unable to win in the month of November, us having a losing season every 3 years since Stallings left, or whatever other bad streak we’ve had. You lose because your opponent is better than you on a given day. If you let winning a trophy give you a big head and affect your preparation, then your chances of losing increase. Otherwise, it is what it is a’ight, and you can reflect on it after the season is over.

Excellent Point
Your thoughts almost mirror mine…..I do believe that the SEC CG WILL determine Heisman winner, barring McCoy turning into Keenum over the next 3 weeks….I would like to see a Heisman AND an NC, as that could certainly boost recruiting efforts in the skill positions, but I’ll take another NC over 3 Heismans….Also, Tony Dorsett won the Heisman and the NC with Pitt (over Georgia) back in 76.

Most heisman winners
recently have gone on to disappoint in the NFL. I think having stars in the NFL helps recruiting more than having a heisman. However I really do hope he wins it, just because I feel like he deserves it, and I doubt it would really effect our NC play because of the man Saban has shaped him into.

I was reading
of what a shitty guy his dad is. Money laundering, drugs, multiple prison sentences, evading, etc… When I listen to Mark JR talk to the media, he sounds humble and sincere. Kudos to him, and may the best man win.

he's had soem legal issues thats for sure
but i’m pretty sure he played a part in sending mark here, as he played at Mich State under coach Saban. When trant was being recruited he was a heavy iowa lean and also considering MSU, but then when Saban got in the picture, his pre-existing relationship with the dad is what sealed the deal… but yeah, pretty sure he’s currently serving time for money laundering at this moment.

I may be remembering incorrectly,
but didn’t Ingram get only about 5 carries in the first half against LSU? I liked Bamagrad’s piece on passing to set up the run, but if you’re trying to get your guy Heisman votes, you certainly pound the ball with him whenever you get a chance. Obviously Saban is not concerned at all about someone getting the Heisman over winning games, and Ingram doesn’t seem to mind either – he just took the carries they gave him in the second half and got his 100+ yards anyway. Guys who win the Heisman that way won’t disappoint later on.

i think ingram has a seriously good shot at the heisman this year
he just needs to get the yards per game average up over the final 3 weeks, then go for his normal 140 in a win vs Florida and it’s his.
welcome to the SEC kiffykins...

I think we can all agree
that Ingram winning a Heisman would be a great honor for him and the University, but winning a national championship is even more important. I hope he has great numbers over the remaining 3 regular season games, but I also hope that Saban is able to rest him and keep him heatthy until the SECCG. That game will be where he will have the best opportunity to win it, having a great game against Florida.
