For those going to auburn (texting, technology, & stadium security)
http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/otl/news/story?id=4603176
I just read an interesting article about schools utilizing technology to improve stadium security. Apparently several schools (including auburn) have a system where you can text security about any issues. So for those going to cow town for the Iron Bowl, you might want to keep this in mind.
At Auburn University, fans can use their cell phone or PDA to send a text message with the word AUBURN, a description of their problem and their location to 78247, and the text appears on a screen in a laptop in the press box. From there, officials can respond and use security cameras to zoom in on the section in question.
As an ESPN reporter watched alongside the security official in the press box, Auburn fans texted 25 times during the West Virginia game, although only 18 of the messages involved legitimate issues ranging from complaints of people smoking, drinking or fighting to questions about how to get a shuttle bus. One person texted a plea for help dealing with an infestation of ants in Section 4, Row 56
So be careful and if someone is giving you trouble report their ass. And if you're buying tickets, avoid section 4 row 56!
