LB Eryk Anders (ankle) restricted from contact; TB Terry Grant still out of action at practice.

Twitter.com: Gentry Estes

As Saban mentioned earlier today, Eryk Anders has been fighting through an ankle sprain the past few weeks, and it looks like he is going to miss some time this week. Terry Grant, on the other hand, is still dealing with whatever the muscle injury is that he had last week. Hopefully these two can just take this week off and come back 100% for the Iron Bowl.

while injuries suck

we can definitely afford to sit out any player with even a mild injury this next week.

Terry Grant

I really hate to see him struggle with injuries this much, he seems to be a good guy whose has stuck it out when nobody would have blamed him for transfering.

I wonder...

How beneficial it would be to keep McElroy et al. in the game until beyond the first half. I’m actually kind of hoping that McElroy will be done with the game sometime in the second quarter.

Eh...

…You want to keep him in long enough to work on a few things, but this should be a snoozer from the outset. I imagine it will be a lot like the North Texas game; McElroy runs the show most of the first half and then Star Jackson goes in and we rotate as many guys as possible. Any and everyone that doesn’t have a redshirt should see some time.

Well...

… you obviously want to get them out as soon as reasonably possible, but these guys are going to have to play a while. I would say at least a half and probably even a bit of the third quarter. There is really no getting around that, you just have to accept the risk and you just have to hope that you can stay healthy.

It’s a legitimate concern, but I’m afraid it’s a necessary evil. Not to make it sound like the game preview, but you really do just have to hope for the best and leave it at that.

I know the coaches are preparing for it...

But I just want to make sure that we have everyone important make it through the game healthy and ready for the Iron Bowl and the SECCG. I know the coaches can’t plan/prepare for absolutely everything, but I’m hoping that our players stay healthy in this game.

We’ll need it especially since we only have six days for the Iron Bowl.
