I asked Gainesville quarterback Blake Sims – arguably the best overall player in the entire state — if there was any chance at all he could end up at Georgia.
"No, sir," the longtime Alabama commitment stated flatly on Wednesday.
"I’m happy about the commitment I made. I’m just ready to go to school up there and just jump on that boat and give everything I have for the Crimson Tide and continue what Coach Saban has started and even more."
Chip Towers: Blake Sims makes it clear: No go for UGA
I wanted to post this one because it certainly seems now like we will fend off attacks from UGA to retain the services of 2010 commitment Blake Sims. This one is huge news because Sims stock just continues to go through the roof. He has lit up the prep world this Fall, and a lot of people think he's the top player in the state of Georgia now. At this point, it wouldn't be a shock to see him end up as a five-star given his rise. Plain and simple, if we can hang onto this one, it's a huge coup for the Tide.

Yeah
I was hoping we could hold onto this guy. He is exactly the kind of speed we need to add.
What position do you think he will play OTS?
This upcoming season I'm gonna refer to Julio Jones as "The Magic Man" and Trent Richardson as "El Diablo"

Offense...
…would be my guess. He is frightening when he has the ball in his hands.

Sims
Living in Atlanta I have had a hard time understanding why he is somewhat underrated. Last year he was the 3-A player of the year in basketball and football. I have heard him compared to Sam Gibson, but to me Sims is clearly the much smoother athlete. He is amazing when you watch him in the open field.
The Gainsville Red Elephants have been slaughtering people all year long.

Are we going to use him the way
LSU uses Shepherd?

How do we use this guy?

Good question for M. Johnson Defender
What will your name be in 2010 given the departure of a certain defensive back?

I'm just gonna . . .
bathe in the glory for a couple of months and worry about a name change after the NFL draft. Or maybe I’ll keep the name just to remind all of you naysayers to never doubt Saban when he says that his starting DB is a good one.

I honestly don't have the slightest clue...
… and from what I can tell, neither does Saban or Sims at this point. I do believe he’ll get an initial look at quarterback, even though he probably won’t stick there.
Still, though, he could play anywhere really. He could possibly stay at quarterback, and he could play any wide receiver position. He could play safety, or he could play corner. He could be a gunner on special teams, and he could return punts and kicks. And, hell, if he bulks up a bit, he could play tailback.
I really don’t have a clue, honestly.

If it wasn't an illegal formation,
I’d say put Cody at center, with no linemen, tailback, QB, or receivers, and snap the ball to himself. Out of that formation he could either throw himself a short dump pass, or hand the ball off to himself and rush for the end zone, but I don’t think there’s a team out there that could stop that!

I like that idea a lot.
His offensive stats this year would seem to suggest a dangerous weapon when he has the ball in his hands. I’d be a bit surprised if he made the switch to defense, though if anybody can pull that off, it would be Saban. But right now the best guess seems WR/Wildcat Back/Returner.

UGA fans
still think Sims is theirs. I think they could have had a chance if they had not looked so bad this year.
Some kids want to go where they can have a sure starting position in year one. But some kids want to go where they can win because winning is important to them. Looks like both of the Sims fall into that group.
I hate the NCAA more than UT & AU combined. At least with UT & AU you got a fighting chance.

Don't think
that guys like him don’t see the development of players before them as well. Ingram went from 3-star recruit to Heisman Hopeful. Obviously numerous examples of players who have improved in the s & c program have been documented. If your college coaches mean the difference between first day pick and first ROUND pick, then that’s worth millions. Might be a reason that kids like Fluker come to Bama knowing they’ll likely redshirt instead of going somewhere else to start right away.

it was prophetic. I mean, it didn’t take a rocket scientist, and 07 wasnt the best year by ANY stretch, but it laid the foundation for [hopefully] back to back undefeeated regular seasons.

Well..
My tag on car says “13ONWY” 13 on way ….I got it last year and then our season exploded and my friends thought I was Cleo….then even when we lost it still appeared we were to win 13 games so once again prophetic….but alas the true meaning of my tag turned about to be waiting to reveal itself this year…so yeah I wont mind going to pay for a new tag Jan 7th …….“14ONWY” that is if 14SOON isnt taken this time like 13SOON was…the coolest tag idea for the new version which was already taken was to actually use the script A that is on the left and spell out LABAMA with the rest…saw a virginia one set up that way and it looked pretty cool.

I should never read comments on other websites.. EVER....
But the comment on this article that UGA didn’t want Sim’s because he would not meet their rigorous admission standards is BS! I just checked. Alabama has a set minimum requirement of 2.0 GPA, and minimum 1010 SAT or combined 86 on the ACT. Georgia, on the other hand, states it has no requirements other than the Georgia board minimum, which is a SAT-V of 430 and SAT-M of 400, or subscores of 17 on both the English and Math sections of the ACT. Are these fans really that stupid?
I don’t know why that rilled me up so bad, but it did.

Exactly.
On what basis could one possibly make substantial criticisms of B.J. Scott? That he couldn’t beat out K. Jackson or M. Johnson for starting corner? Pretty soon, B.J. Scott will be demonstrating to another 5-star punk why players who don’t know the process frontwards and backwards won’t be getting the PT.
