Sad news out of Athens, as according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, UVA VII has died of an apparent heart attack. The news was totally unexpected, as UGA VII was still young and was in fact in only his second season as mascot.

That is sad, especially since it's so close to Uga VI

Since we don’t have a live mascot I can’t say this for sure, but I know as attached as we fans get to our programs, for teams that do have live mascots like Uga it must be like losing a family pet.

sad news.

UGA wasn’t just a great mascot, he was the anti-Smoky.

I think I read somewhere that Bulldogs...

..are prone to heart attacks because of overheating, which is a problem in our especially warmer than normal climate (though it’s obviously autumn now.)

Yeah, the always have UGA chilling in his house with bags of ice all around him at the day games.

We were all thinking it.
It’s like when Tebow got knocked out. After he recovered, you couldn’t say something like, “Keep Tebow conscious for Atlanta!” or it’d be considered offensive by their fans. We’ll laugh here, but don’t you dare post this on one of their sites until they have more time to mourn what is certainly a terrible loss of a teammate many had an attachment to. 20 years down the road, when if Georgia starts winning again, you will be able to say, “Remember that season back in 2009? Do you remember how bad our team was?”
“How bad was it, Joe?”
“It was so bad, Uga died. And he was only a few years old.”
“Are you serious?”
“Serious as a heart attack.”

Can anyone post

The pic of UGA trying to take a bite of that receiver who’s end zone TD catch was too close to him.
