Florida Gators linebacker Brandon Spike suspended for first half
Looks like skigator was right. Half of a game against Vandy is the going rate for gouging eyes. Supposedly he was retaliating for having his eye poked earlier, but should that really matter?

More than likely...
the eye poke he received was accidental. In my opinion, something of this nature and magnatude required nothing less than a full game, and really was deserving of being dimissed from the team.

Tebow:
“I don’t think that we did anything in that game that they didn’t do,” Tebow said Monday. “If you go back and look at it and study it, you can see it in the film, too. It was an intense game, both teams were very passionate about it.” -Tim Tebow
Way to man up and condone eye gouging St. Tebow.

I always liked Tebow,
until he said that. To excuse this behavior is uncharacteristic of the Tebow that has been portrayed by the media.

Remember
after he had that run which ended in the 4th grade sommersault? He came out of the game rubbing his eyes and the announcers were so worried I thought they may cry. He may have found himself on the losing end of an eye gouge himself. Either way he should’ve had no comment on it and he should know better. Looks like Tebow doesn’t know how to turn the other cheek after all.

one half eh? i think urban meyer’s pretext of a response might be more outrageous than the event itself.

Does Tim Tebow matter?
His football career will end, barring injury, at 0:00 in the fourth quarter of a bowl game. If a pro team is actually desperate enough to take him, they’ll end up getting a Ryan Leaf. At any rate, he ceases to be Alabama’s problem after December 5.
Still, Urban’s “punishment” is an insult to all football fans and an offense against the sport as a whole.

Ryan Leaf?
I was thinking Mike Alstott.

Not a chance.
He’s as durable as wet toilet paper, and he has a natural ability to piss people off. Not a great trait to have when you need some of those people to keep you out of the hospital.

His "justification" defense
Here’s what UF fans are saying that Spikes was retaliating against (h/t Dr. Saturday):

Spoiler: it’s just some incidental contact with the face because Spikes doesn’t strap his helmet on.

If you were...
…a low life thug, would you refer to another low life thug as a low life thug?

Don't suspend Spikes, but rather
make him play without his visor…
sometimes you gotta roll the hard six

Just to make a statement...
….I think all of Vanderbilt’s players, trainers, coaches, cheerleaders and mascot should come out for the second half against Florida wearing goggles.

As I've been
saying- Tebow is not who you think he is.
And if Spikes could still see he didn’t have his eye gouged out. That UGA back is one lucky kid to still be able to see. Spikes was trying to do permanent damage. The big thug don’t play around.

This is the greatest thing to happen all year. FINALLY the world gets to see how big a THUG Brandon Spikes is and has always been. Then people FINALLY get to see how CLASSLESS Meyer is by his lack of control and discipline on his players, among many other things( would take an essay). BUT NEVERTHELESS, THANK YOU BRANDON SPIKES AND COARCH MEYA FOR EXPOSING BOTH IN JUST A FEW SHORT SECONDS. According to Meyer, “he is just an emotional player”, well I know this stuff goes on but maby ole Meyer should look at the film again, the garbage makes me want to puke. Then he should look at Spikes and his (lack of) character in the past. My favorite image is him tackling Moreno and sitting helmet to helmet for about 5 seconds letting his big mouth spread and spitting all over Moreno. Florida is about as classy as Tenn is right now and I am sick of them getting a free pass on everything. But I guess Spikes will have “street cred” now.

Well said.
By the way…I hate UT but I did not see any unsportsman like play in the game until the last play when their holder tried to hit a Bama player running onto the field after the game was over.
But UF…they take cheap shots all the time and rarely get anything called on them. I don’t buy the conspiracy theory. They just remind me of USC east- they are supposedly hip and cool and get away with things for which others are penalized. They took a pretty cheap shot on us in the SECCG last year and I promise you our guys remember.
We just need to take care of LSU and then we get our shot at the thugs.
And remember this— eventaully Spikes will end up in jail, Tebow will get cut in the NFL, and UGA & FSU are going to get a real coaches and Urban is going to wish he had gotten out while it was good.

Commissioner Slive...
Should have suspended Spikes for four games (want him nice and rested for the Tide at the SECCG), and Urban Meyer for two for the way he insulted the league by not punishing someone responsible for the nastiest foul I’ve seen all year.
