Men's Cross Country SEC Champs

editor's note - though I know nothing about the sport personally, we always need to congratulate our teams on their successes. Roll Tide!

I am probably one of the few on here that has an interest in the sport but I wanted to take this opportunity to congratulate the BAMA men's cross country team on winning their second consecutive SEC championship. Arkansas, historically a CC powerhouse, is the only other SEC school that has achieved consecutive championships. I used to...

Run cross country at UA…well I was on the team and practiced, but was never in good enough shape (injuries) to be able to race.

Huge props and RTR for the Alabama’s men’s cross country.

Consecutive Titles..

Actually, I ran at UA as well. I was going to mention that Tennessee also won consecutive titles before Arkansas joined the conference in 1991. Tennessee owned SEC CC before Arkansas and won back-to-back titles in 1989-90.

Arkansas did win 17-straight until Alabama defeated them last year and began their own streak this year. Arkansas had actually won 17-straight in the old Southwest Conference so they technically went unbeaten (34-straight titles) until last season. Pretty remarkable.

I was once a "harrier" back in my days of youth

LONG LONG time ago! And the only reason I joined HS cross-country was because I had to have a cyst removed from my shoulder- a result of the shoulder pads from my football gear rubbing and then infecting the said shoulder. I placed in NorCal and my team was on the front cover of CalHi Sports! (it actually looked like I was a cholo in surf-gear -our running uniforms were breathable bermudas with Sub-4 singlets – and me and my homies were running away from the authorities!!!)

(man, to beat Arkansas 2 years in a row. THAT IS A MAJOR FEAT as the Razorbacks are the Yankees of NCAA running and Track & Field. No joke!)
