explain yourself RE: LSU/Ole Miss.

Identical records, head to head.

Ole Miss has the “worse” losses (looked horrible against Auburn and SC), while LSU’s other losses were close ones to Alabama and Florida (top two teams in the country). LSU has looked better long, while Ole Miss is just now finally putting things together.

agreed that LSU

has “higher quality losses”, but what about quality wins? if LSU is really 8 spots higher than ol miss, then ol miss’ win over a team 8 spots higher than them, would seem to be the highest quality win for either team. wouldn’t it? put another way, LSU lost to each of the three decent teams they’ve played (factor in their loss next week vs arky and you start to see where i’m goin with this), whereas ol miss lost to teams they coulda/shoulda beat. ergo ol miss has a higher ceiling and is hitting their stride, while LSU has done as well as they possibly can, and will lose again next week anyways…

This one...

…is a tough call. Ole Miss looked like the better team yesterday and should have won by a larger margin. However, LSU clearly has better talent…even though you can hear the ocean if you put your ear up to Less Miles’ hat. If anything, they should be ranked closer than they are here….

I don't think we're the number one

until we beat Auburn and Florida. TCU might be the best team in top five. They wear purple, they beat Utah, and most importantly, they’re a Christian school with honorable men.

MATRIX: Bennett, I thought you were--

BENNETT: Dead? You thought wrong. Ever since you had me thrown out of the unit, I've been waiting to pay you back. Do you know what today is, Matrix? Payday.

You mean...

…the best team in the top five other than Alabama, right? We wear crimson, we beat Virginia Tech and LSU, and most importantly, we’re a public school called Alabama with honorable men.

Florida is number 1...

…until they lose. Undefeated defending national champions should always be number 1. TCU should be tied for 3 with Texas. Agreed on Alabama.

And yet...

…y’all didn’t seem to object about Alabama being #1 the last several weeks I’ve had us there….

I don't object...

To most of us (myself included), we are the best team in the country, but our views don’t matter if there’s an undefeated defending national champion in the race. As far as the blog poll is concerned, you can put Auburn at the top for all I care. Imagine how good it will look for our strength of schedule when we beat the #1 team in the country on Friday.

Wisconsin sucks.

They have 0 conference wins against above .500 teams. Their best wins this year are against 7-win Northern Illinois and 7-win Fresno State. I don’t mind them being on the list, but #17 is way too high, especially considering that they just lost to Northwestern, who has 8 wins as well and who is not on your list.

Also, could we get a little love for Nevada? I know they sucked at the beginning of the year, but they’ve won 8 straight games and are averaging 51.5 points per game during that streak. Certainly that is as good as what Temple has done (and Nevada didn’t lose to Villanova).

by rugman11 on Nov 22, 2009 12:17 PM CST reply actions

Good points all....

….if Wisconsin is to stay in, Northwestern should be in as well. As for Nevada, they got housed by a shitacular Notre Dame. Its the same principle as leaving BYU out: You don’t get blown out by this year’s FSU and get ranked.

Also...

…Temple is in for the novelty of voting for Temple.

That's cool...

…just vote them at least one space lower than Ole Miss, por favor….

WTF...

…with Cal? They slapped Stanford out of your rankings, yet didn’t move.

No...

…they weren’t ranked before beating Stanford, and they now are. The movement indicators are kind of weird that way.

yeah. i mean i guess i'll take #3 or #2 for now

after we beat florida it doesn’t matter. we’re in the title game, and we’re going to crush whoever we face there.

i say "whoever" because i wont be surprised if nebraska beats tejas in the big 12 title game.

might be TCU or Cinci, i’m thinkin Cinci provided they beat Pitt.

You're kidding right?

Nebraska will be lucky to lose by only 2-3 TDs.

by Nico2.0 on Nov 22, 2009 3:01 PM CST up reply actions

nope

tejas will be lucky to score more than 21 on the first competent defense they will have faced all year.

OUs was competent...

and that was abominable to watch. I think that NUs D will absolutely shut down that miserable excuse for a running game, and CM will be running for his life, but TX should still be able to eke out a 27-17 win, something like that. NUs offense is atrocious.

I know you hate BYU but they are gonna beat Utah next weekend.

BYU should be in your top 20. Seriously.

I live in Utah but HATE the Utes! Roll TIDE, Roll!

….they’re in. Otherwise, 28-54
