Lou Holtz has uncharacteristically harsh words for Charlie Weis.
I was watching ESPN last night when the subject of Notre Dame's latest gridiron debacle came up again. When the question was raised of just what the problem was with Charlie Weis' squad, Lou Holtz said their problem was that they lacked mental and physical toughness. Harsh! I think Lisping Lou just called the Irish a bunch of pussies. He is seemingly always against a head coach being fired, even Mike Shula. This means Weis must certainly be a dead man walking. I bring this up only to remind everyone that we may have but one chance to hand Urban Meyer his just desserts before he leaves for South Bend.

If I remember correctly, didn’t he also say he thought they should keep Weis? Of course, he was at Notre Dame, and if you couple that with always being against firing coaches (I didn’t know that – haven’t watched him that much) he’s pretty much required to say that. He did have criticism for the team in general, though
That's not what I heard but it would suit me if ND kept the guy.
They keep turning their covetous eyes in this direction and I don’t like it. No sir, I don’t like it at all.

This direction...
CNS? I’ve heard some LSU fans suggesting that. I know how they like to talk about what an opportunist he is, and certainly ND’s AD could have good reason to want him, but I just don’t see it happening. Lets’ say Saban is as much an opportunist as is suggested (it’s certainly possible). He’s pretty much got the best opportunity around. He has a nationally recognized job, has quickly built a very successful team, and is one of the best-paid coaches in the nation. ND can offer him a lot of money… but I’m pretty sure we can match it. And he’d be going from a successful team with great recruiting to a team with a lot of problems and great recruiting. Unless he just thrives on making teams better every 3 years and leaving, I don’t see it happening.
Weis is a dead man.
But Urban ain’t going to go there and neither will Saban. For one thing ND would be a step down for those two. Plus I’m not sure even ND could come up with the money after they pay off Weis for a Saban or a Meyer.
I think they nab the Cincy coach if they can get him or maybe the TCU coach. I would not even be surprised to see Tuberville or Nutt go to South Bend.
Meyer, by the way, may actually jump to the NFL if he could get Tebow on his team. He has a weird relationship with Timmy.
I hate the NCAA more than UT & AU combined. At least with UT & AU you got a fighting chance.
And of course Holtz
was on Shula’s side- Holtz hates Bama. He wanted us to stick with Shula and be 7-6 every year and get happy with that
But he loves ND and he knows Weis is clueless.

Holtz does hate Bama, doesn't he?
If every one of his pregame picks had been accurate, we would be sitting at 7-4 right now. I wonder who he will pick to win the SECCG.

For what it's worth..
I live 2 hours from South Bend, and the 2 names i keep hearing are Meyer(which i dont see happening) and Gruden. I’ve also heard Tubs name mentioned ocassionally. The only time ND fans hear CNS’s name up here is when i rub it in there faces every week, telling them to get their sht together so we can renew this rivalry

Gruden's a good coach
though I’m not sure how adept at recruiting he would be, as well as the dedication it requires to recruit successfully

Getting kids to come to ND not hard
but evaluating talent in HS juniors is. I don’t know if Gruden can do that, no one can know unless he tries.

Have any of you ever been to South Bend?
The land where you don’t get chapped lips—you get chapped-anyhting-that touches-the air. It is cold, old, windy, dirty, windy, damp, dank, windy, did I say cold? No one from FL or AL would go there to live, if they have ever been there. Certainly not Terri Saban. They need to recruit a new coach in the summer, is the problem. I can’t imagine the transition from life on the River in Tuscaloosa to South Bend.

Take Urban please......
I want to see him whining about all the bad missed calls and see him hugging and smuching on their gay qb Clausen (someone please reference the picture of jimmy with his ring out).
WHAAAAA, they hit jimmy late, boohooo.
I don't mind bad news, and I don't mind good news, but I can't stand surprises! Coach Nick Saban
Charlie Weis...
…is practically begging ND to fire him, but I really don’t see how they can afford to in this economic climate. Better to lose a few dozen more games than @$20 mil….

not to mention
the 20+ mill to hire a new coach and staff…..The Vatican may need to sell one of their relics, this is gonna cost em close to 50 mill when it’s all said and done

Notre Dame
could do worse. Think Cheezit would be interested? I don’t want Myer to go. He is due some serious payback from a whole lot of SEC teams. Without Tebow, he is a dead man walking. Maybe Miles? He would be good for a few laughs. Nobody in their right mind will go to ND. Too cold, hard to recruit to the school, and all the good looking women are in the SEC. Go figure….
When you're a front runner, you don't have to look at no ugly behinds.
last I heard
Bob Stoop’s name was being thrown around…..he and Richt are in the same boat: been at the same place for almost a decade, recruits well, down this year, etc

why do people keep saying you cant recruit there?
freakin Rivals has them rated as a top 20 class or better every year. weis has pulled in multiple top 5 classes. they are LOADED WITH BLUE CHIP TALENT, trouble is their coach sucks and the kids who decide to go there turn out to little pansy ass girls.
