May Hate Week Commence

Any Alabama fan with a functioning brain and a working conscience saves no rancor for Auburn. Regardless of the date. Iron Bowl week or not. Hell, football season or not. There is no respite from the seething in my soul and the fire in my bones that is bred of my deep hatred for them. But as witnesses to The Process, and out of respect for Coach Saban's One Game Season mentality, we dial down the spite. Even as spectators, we have begun to adopt that same mind: Each week is as crucial as the next, no matter who the competition.

However, now that we have cleared all obstacles standing in the way, may our vigor be renewed. Let the hatred flow through you. Spare no expense. Hold nothing back. It is Iron Bowl week. This is the game that we live for. Even with the SEC championship looming, and on the horizon the possibility of seeing the Tide in the BCS National Championship game, this game speaks more to us, viscerally, than any other.

I cannot imagine that I am alone in feeling that the Iron Bowl more defines a season than a conference or, at the risk of heresy, even a national championship.

That said, we have endured 12 weeks of scary moments, frustration, anger, and pure elation to arrive at this point. Allow yourself to hate. Hate without end. It's Iron Bowl time.
