Auburn Is The Most Important Game

Our team like every team has season goals. To have a winning season, to go to and win a bowl game, to win the SEC West, to win the SEC, to win the NC.

Those are season goals, but what about individual games? Obviously every conference game is big. But two stand out, UT and Auburn. Now I hate Tennessee. In fact I think I hate their team, their coaches, their colors, their mascot more than Auburn’s team etc. But to me personally the Auburn game itself is more important than the UT game. You see, like a lot of you, I am surrounded with Auburn people (even though I live in GA.) And, although I hate UT, I just don’t encounter that many UT fans on a daily basis. They are largely confined to the State of Tenn, and I just try to avoid that state if at all possible. But, I see Auburn people every single day. They have left Lee County and migrated all over southern GA.

When you lose to Auburn their fans are worse than any fans on earth. They don’t just bring it up the next day, or the next week. They bring it up everyday for the next year. And sometimes they bring it up for as long as they live. I still have Auburn people laugh and ask me how the Bear let the same guy block two punts in row. And, I still have this one guy holding up six fingers every time I see him. (Like man, we won last year, were you not alive?)

So, to beat UT feels good, almost like you are putting a criminal behind bars. But to beat Auburn just means you have bragging rights and they don’t, and they can just shut up for another year. So, if we lose to Auburn and then win the SEC, and even somehow the NC, it doesn’t really matter. But if we beat Auburn, but then lose to UF and even lose to whomever in the bowl, well I can live with that.

My daughter is a junior at Bama. As a freshman, Saban’s first year, she got involved in the SGA and was on a committee at Bama called "Improving Relations With Auburn." The whole idea was for the SGA to try to calm down the bitter rivalry between the two schools. That fall my daughter was visiting with her grandmother who is a typical 85 year old granny. Her grandmother (my mom) has been a Bama fan for about 65 years and her husband (my dad) was a Bama grad. My daughter asked my mom if she had any ideas about how her committee could improve relations with Auburn. My mom (who is a sweet old widow woman, living in Florida, and has no contact with Auburn people at all) replied, "The only way to improve relations with Auburn is to beat them a few times. That will improve relations!"

Exactly!

FanPosts are just that; posts created by the fans. They are in no way indicative of the opinions of SBN and the authors of Roll Bama Roll.

You know...

….I hate Tennessee, but I am annoyed by Auburn. I want to see UT destroyed, but I just want to make Auburn fans shut the hell up for a few weeks (and you know it’s only a few weeks after the Iron Bowl before they start running their stupid whore mouths again).

As a Tennesseean...

….I enjoy the great rivalry that we have with UT on the football field. Most years they field a competitive team and we have a close, hard-fought game. I have a lot of friends and family that have graduated from UT, so it is hard to conjure up much hatred for the University itself, though I seem to have special feelings reserved only for their coaches.

Auburn, on the other hand, generates no positive feelings for me. Other than some extremely fine-looking Auburn ladies that I have known, everything about that institution makes my skin crawl. I cringe every time I find it appropriate to use any of the words “lovely,” “village,” or “plains.” I have been to the crappy town once, and once was enough.

The best thing about Nick Saban before he came to Alabama was that he had already worked up a healthy hate for Auburn.
The best thing about Georgia fans is that they hate Auburn.
The best thing about the BCS is that it excluded Auburn from its championship game when Auburn had a damn good, undefeated team.
The best thing about Finebaum is that he has become the most famous sportswriter in Alabama while consistently hating on Auburn.

Auburn ain’t shit.

I am a fan of my beloved Crimson Tide

Unlike the average Auburn fan, I love my team more than I hate my rival

Unlike the average Tennessee fan, I love my team more than I hate my rival

The difference to me is that I don’t expect my beloved team to support me. I support them. Auburn fans expect their team to support them. They will dump them in a heatbeat if they don’t. The same with Tennessee.

I want The Crimson Tide to win another National Championship. I want that for the players because I support them, they don’t support me.

In order to do that, most of the time, The Crimson Tide would have to beat both Auburn and Tennessee. If Auburn and Tennessee chooses to measure their worth by beating the Crimson Tide, then that is their problem. If they are willing to settle for that as their tradition, then that is their problem.

I am a fan of my team… as all of you are. I have loved them all of my 45 years. There has been a lot of great players that have come and gone in that time. ……

Joe Namath, Pat Trammell, Kenney Stabler, John Hannah, Barry Krause, Sherman Williams, George Teaque, Antonio Langham, Mike Shula, Van Tiffin and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on….. it seems endless.

I personally don’t give two sh*** about Auburn or Tennessee anymore. They are nothing more than speedbumps on the highway of furthuring our tradition. A tradition of championships.

Thanks for playing along with my rant..

By hatred is bordering on AU/UT

I know that this is our rivalry game, but with Tubby’s exodus, and that moron in Knoxville just heating up,all I can still think about is that orange runt and stomping his rocky top ass into the ground next year. Then again after growing up in Montgomery AL,a hotbed of Barner idiots,I must focus on the task or should I say trash at hand.

I hate Auburn because their fans

talk so much crap. They run their mouths more than anybody, even when they don’t have a logical reason to. Every time I read an article about the Tide on Al.com I scan through the comments and there’ll be several from Auburn fans that are just plain stupid. I know Bama fans post comments on the Auburn stories, but it really makes you want to see Auburn burn when some of their fans are guaranteeing a victory in the Iron Bowl and talking about how we’re overrated and all the rest.

If Ole Miss hadn’t fallen apart in the third quarter, Auburn would have lost to every decent opponent they’ve played since their 5-0 start.

Screw Gus Malzahn and his gimmicky offense. Screw Auburn’s fans. The best thing that school has is the new texting system they have in their stadium. Other than that, they’re just a bunch of punks.

I love your mother 5026...

I am from Columbus, Ga and many of my father’s side of the family attended the Barn. “Punt, Bama, Punt” has been said so many times over the years, it’s ridiculous. That was their crowning glory before the fingers started. Aubsession must be a pitiful state to live in. Although I hate I let that shit still bother me, what the hell, it keeps my hatred going 24-7, 365 days of the year and I’m good with that!!!

You had me at "ROLL TIDE"!!!

It is the most important game...

because it’s the next one on the schedule. I will thoroughly enjoy the muscling we put on the Barn, and watching Ingram plow through that porous defense, and will enjoy it because they just happen to be next on the list.

But, really, Auburn’s kung fu is weak.

You'd think he'd have managed expectations better

Considering how good he was at predicting the number of losses they’d have.

5026, your Mom is a heck of a woman.........

That is about as sound a logic as I’ve heard in a while. My about to be new bride is a Georgia fan and what we realized is that one of the things we have in common is our outright disgust of the barners. Though I work with one that wears a barner shirt EVERY FRICKIN DAY OF THE YEAR, he’s trying to talk down the game and say that don’t stand a chance. I told him straight up, don’t even try. I want NO excuses when we run all over the barners.
Forget being nice, this is a LIFESTYLE choice I make, and it is to hate aubarn. I have to go there for work tomorrow and I’ll proudly be wearing my colors and have my Bama flag on display, and if any barners go a problem with that, BRING IT ON. I’ll give you a Julio straight arm. WHAT????

I don't...

…associate with too many boogs, so having the satisfaction of beating UF with the unholy trinity of Meyer, Spikes, and Tebow…then beating Texas, our historic kryptonite, to win our first BCS trophy would be soooo worth it.

But, yeah, if I heard anyone bragging too much about beating us, I’d hafta put the smack down….

And of course, I’m planning on us being 14-0, anyway….

With all the SEC dominance in the BCS, no team from our conference has gone 14-0. It’d be nice for Alabama to be the only one who can make that claim.

To be honest

I would not. Even to win a NC, but lose to Auburn, would be bitter sweet, and more bitter than sweet. AND- you would never hear the end of it with them talking about how they beat Bama when we were #1.

I hate the NCAA more than UT & AU combined. At least with UT & AU you got a fighting chance.

Auburn Wife

When I was growing up I couldnt stand to even be around Auburn fans. In 1972 my best friend was recruited to play football for Shug Jordan and he signed with them. That…..I thought was the worse day of my life…..little did I know I would marry an Auburn fan. Ive been married to her for 4 years and 3 of those years Auburn had beat Bama until BAMA and Nick Saban did something about that last year. 36-0 did something I havent been able to do since I met her….shut her up. Of course I pretend to pull for Auburn when they arent playing Alabama but it was ALL pretense. I just cant do it, its like trying to make me eat brussel sprouts…I throw up.

Married

an Auburn fan too. And believe me, her side is not the classy, humble kind. They are the kind that will rub in your face every time they see you until the next Iron Bowl. So for me, hating Auburn just comes so naturally. Dad had to educate me a bit on why I needed to hate UT. But the Auburn hatred needed no encouragement.

I visited Auburn once.

It smelled like Sao Paulo.

We have to crush these jagoffs. They are telling each other how they have nothing to lose and that if it looks like we will win by less than three scores, they will crank up the “Overrated!” cheer. Let’s throttle these punks and start getting ready for next week.

Don't you know how much I hate these guys? CNS
