Submit Your Questions for "Hey Todd!"
With the short week and Thanksgiving, we're having to juggle our schedules a little bit so the RBR Radio Hour(ish) is getting moved up to tonight. Same time (8:00pm CST), same place (TalkShoe), just a new night. Think y'all can handle that? Thought you could. The Iron Bowl is, of course, just about all we'll be talking about and Jerry Hinnen of War Blog Eagle will be joining us for some Q&A action, so get your questions in for us and him. See you tonight.

Question #1: Marquis Maze owns your face: yes or no?

Gene Chizik
So how satisfied are Auburn fans with Gene Chizik this year? Want do they realistically want to see out of him next year to prevent the regular Hot Seat talk?

I think we're pretty satisfied
Of course we would like a better record next year, but honestly…with the current starters we have from Tubs I don’t see that happening. I think we’ll have any hot seat talk happening unless something drastic happens. I do remember listening to Finebaum Saban’s first year and him being on the hotseat from fans after the ULM game. We’ll see what happens, I just don’t expect anything worse than this season (at least I hope not).

why do you bastards always bring up
ULM from Saban’s first season? Is that and “fear the thumb” all you have left to hold on to? And yall accuse us of living in the past….shit…now my blood pressure’s acting up again…where’s my water pill?

Don't get all hostile...
I’m just telling you the truth. Not to bring up any bad memories, i’m just being serious. Trying to be civil on here is hard. It’s funny how fans start calling out their coach so soon…that’s the point. That’s what I was responding to.

well, i think you'll find that while we weren't too pleased with the outcome of that game...
…we were not in the classic “meltdown” mode over it either.
the first year of the saban era was expected to be brutal but the focus was on developing the talent we had and recruiting like crazy (thus the fracas with overzealous michigan fans).
i think you are right, chizik will get at least as much credit for his first year and, arguably, hasn’t taken things to as dark a place as saban’s crew did in year one. by just about every measure one can consider, auburn has exceeded expectations this season.
even if auburn loses the iron bowl, he should be secure. problem is, that actually what makes things more dangerous for alabama. we are going into an enemy stadium to play a decent team that has absolutely nothing to lose. that hates our guts, too boot. this ain’t gonna be a gimme game, i can assure you that.
but in terms of chizik’s staying power over the longer term, the question then seems to be “is this progress for real?” and i can’t honestly look at chizik’s effort and say that. bottom line, even if he and malzahn somehow coach a full league over their heads for the next two seasons, the talent disparity will remain insurmountable.

thank you Kleph
your ability to elucidate my rambling incoherent thoughts is “insurmountable.” That, and sarcasm is truly lost on the University of West Georgia

I think you can say Chizik's effort is for real...
At least for the time being he has made some great progress. Obviously we’re (Univ of West GA) playing with the SAME players as last year but the turnout is almost a complete 180. Recruiting is also something we haven’t seen in years. Honestly TT didn’t recruit anything for our team for what, 3 years? I think he’s overdoing himself just to prove all of the critics wrong…which hell, I’ll take that.

if someone asks a question in good faith...
…is it that damn hard to return the favor?

Will Auburn fans...
…consider a 37-3 loss an improvement over last year’s game?
