Around SBN: Ohio State And Florida Target 2013 Receiver Recruits

Upchurch-1127jpg-7e644c99110b61c1_large

With our Heisman contender ineffective and our true freshman backup having already put the ball on the ground, we call Roy Upchurch's number and he plunges the dagger. Injuries and such may have kept Upchurch from living up to his recruiting promise, but after taking over the second half of last year's Tennessee game and catching the game winning TD in his last Iron Bowl every last one of you better have a special place in your heart for him.

like i tried to say before,

I love some Upchurch! Last time I said that I thought he was “exciting to watch” another bama fan jumped my case.

i love watching upchurch get the ball

cause he has ZERO problem lowering the boom on the defensive guy trying to make the stop.

I also love that about him...

…but that may be part of what has been an injury filled career at BAMA. Still, he will always hold a special place in my BAMA memory(which coincidentally is about 75% of my entire memory)

Good game Tide

See you in T-town next year

And, in a related story, this week marked the 5,000th performance of the Broadway musical "Cats." It also marked the 5,000th time a guy turned to his wife and said, "What the hell is this?"

It was a good game...

…and AU played their hearts out and left everything they had on that field. I would understand holding your heads low after last year’s game but you shouldn’t after this one.

You won't see me hanging my head

It took me a few hours to get over the fact that we lost, but I know we played probably our best game this season and were this close to winning the damn thing. I don’t count it as a “moral victory” but I’m very proud of the effort my team gave today, and seeing how the staff is recruiting, I’m excited about the direction of the program. Hopefully we’ll have another top 10 vs. top 10 Iron Bowl in the next few years.

similarly...

as upset as i was yesterday by this performance, now my sphincter has untightened and i can look back at it a bit more objectively, i can appreciate what our squad was able to accomplish. and part of that is appreciating the improvement in the auburn program over the past year.

as much as i hate auburn – and damn, do i ever hate auburn – it is in the best interest of both teams that the rivalry is competitive. to succeed at the highest level, a team has to play their best at the end of the season. having this contest waiting at the end of the schedule makes sure you plan for that from the start.

Well. he started off our season...

…with a thundering TD against VT and ended it with a dagger in Auburn’s heart. Yes, I love that guy.

is my work computer wallpaper. Go, Roy!

Without that TD, AU has a serious shot at FG range and a win. Thank you, Upchurch.

Before the season...

…I picked Upchurch over Ingram for my fantasy team. I was disappointed in my pick for RB but I could care less now. He has written his name down as a hero of BAMA lore and will most likely be the subject of Daniel Moore’s next print.

I know this...

…I meant the next one after “Rocky Block”

i think that’s the “official” name of the play. coaches aren’t known for the poetic lyricism.

Yep...

…I forgot they are using “Maximum Block” rather than the better “Rocky Block”

I've always liked Upchurch..

his entire career as been filled with nagging injuries it seems. but he has come up big in games and has always been a great contributor to the team. glad to see him have a game winning moment in his senior year. way to go Roy!!!!
