Roy Upchurch
Roy Upchurch is awesome. I was so happy to see him score the winning TD in the Iron Bowl. Some of you may remember when Upchurch wore "RIP Micah" on his wrist during the UT game last year. Micah Edwards was a big Alabama fan, and Upchurch was his favorite player. He even had a picture of Roy in his little desk at school. Micah died when he refused to leave his elderly grandmother in a fire. They found their bodies huddled together in her bedroom. Upchurch was particularly moved by this story because of his relationship with his own grandmother. "Upchurch, after all, spent 18 months in high school living with his grandmother, Gladys Garner. The 71-year-old was in failing health, and none of her adult children could care for her full time. Upchurch volunteered, then spent a long time convincing his mother to allow him to do so. He rose at 4 a.m., cooked her breakfast, gave her medication, went to school, went to football practice, became a Parade All-American, came home, and repeated it the next day." Upchurch sent the family a signed ball and dedicated that UT game in which he had a career day to Micah last year. The story in the Birmingham News last year ended by saying "Somewhere, Edwards is cheering". Tonight, he sure had cause to cheer again.

Upchurch was 'under-used'
Bama wastes a lot of time trying to run ‘up the gut’ when they could have used Upchurch who is the best ‘illusive’ runner we have. Had it not been for him, we would have lost the Ole Miss game last year. By the end of the second quarter, it was easy to see that Ingram wasn’t gona have a good day. The coaches usually go with the ‘hot hand’ and that was Richardson but I would have liked to have seen Roy get more snaps. If Ingram’s injury slows him, we best use Roy and Richardson quicker or the Lizards will be eatin’ some Pachederm in Atlanta!
It was really odd...
the way holes just opened up for Richardson and not for Ingram. It was as if Auburn was saying, “You can’t win that Heisman Ingram, but Trent can do whatever he wants. 50 yards? Okay, Trent. Game-winning run? Fine. Just as long as Ingram doesn’t move.”
And you’re right, I’d like to see some Upchurch in there, especially in those goal line formations for the added play action threat.

Holes opened for
Trent because he is quicker to the hole.
I hate the NCAA more than UT & AU combined. At least with UT & AU you got a fighting chance.
