Week Thirteen Open Thread
After the Iron Bowl victory yesterday, we get to enjoy a relaxing day of college football today, and it should be a good one to boot. Lots of good games today, including some key rivalry games. Chime in here with your thoughts.

If Arky beats LSU...
We’ll have two teams in the SEC 12-0 (I mean, assuming Florida wins, which everyone does) and nobody else better than 8-4, but eight teams between there and 6-6. Might as well put the bowl bids in a hat.
MSU is my second favorite SEC team

Cowboys destroyed in Norman

I tell you...
I tell you, watching this Florida game is damn scary knowing we have these guys next week in an environment that is perfect for their style of play. These guys are well rested and they are finally seemingly firing on all cylinders, just as I feared.
I know FSU isn’t all that much, but they aren’t considerably worse than either Texas A&M or Auburn, and both of those teams scared the hell out of Florida’s top competition. The Gators are just steamrolling FSU, though. The only questions in this game are (1) whether or not Florida scores 50, or (2) whether or not Florida State can score any.
Damn scary stuff, I’m afraid.

For all of the Myth of Tebow's class
He could try, just try, to give show a little restraint, a little humility. Hell, a shout out to his teammates (including, for 1/2 of the season, his defense, which bailed them out time and again).
This is the most self-aggrandizing player to come down the pipe in helluva’ long time..admittedly, when he’s on, he’s Robo-Tebow with money plays, but a little more humility would, IDK, actually make him likeable.

Agreed.
While it’s nice that he doesn’t hold up drug dealers with a pellet gun or punch people from behind at parties, that’s not terribly different from 97% of college football players. So I don’t need to hear every Saturday about what a great young man Tebow is and how he just wants to bring something special to the Florida community. I get it. He’s a great college QB and he really really likes Jesus. The story gets old after a while.

Florida State Defense
Florida State has literally the worst defense out of any BCS team, save Washington State. They have been on the field when Miami, Georgia Tech, North Carolina, North Carolina State, and soon to be Florida had their best offensive days of the year. I am not sure how much you can take out of this game on offense, as Florida State is absolutely putrid on defense. That said Florida is amazing on defense.
Guys, we have to tackle better than we did against Auburn or..
else we’re going to watch the teblow show for 3 hours next week.
Got that winning feelin'
There is absolutely
every reason to be worried about Florida, but I think it should be tempered with the realization that
1) FSU is much worse than Auburn (as has been noted)
2) Our play (especially defensively) yesterday was not representative of our team’s usual effort, and hopefully next week we will bring the level back up
3) Auburn had a week off before playing us (the third team we’ve played right after they had a bye week). That’s certainly not an excuse to play bad, but it should be taken into account. And we get an extra day to prepare. Our players are getting rest while Tebow is out there still playing (for god knows what reason).
Again, not to say we shouldn’t be worried. But it’s not all doom and gloom.
Florida will replicate Auburn's double sync defense that stopped Bama's running game.

Doesn't sound like anyone is interested the BYU/Utah game...
BYU is wearing their throwbacks identical to their ’84 “championship” duds. LOL
I live in Utah but HATE the Utes! Roll TIDE, Roll!
It's time to turn the Florida hate up a notch
We have to beat these guys. I’m sick of their smirking, cocky asses. We need to put an L on them to see Meyer, Tebow, and Spikes walking out of the Georgia Dome stunned.
I remember when we kicked their ass in ‘99, their bus went by us in the back of the dome and they looked like they were on a death train. I want to see that look on Florida’s team’s faces again.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE
Whip Florida’s ass next week!!! I am a die hard Nole fan and this season has been gut wrenching, to say the least. This season sucks so bad, my wife feels sorry for me. I really hope Bowden leaves after this year so we can start over.
I am so fucking tired of hearing the CBS commentators talk about Tebow this and Tebow that. I want you guys to fucking crush them so bad it actually hurts their recruiting class! I want to see Tebow and Spikes sitting on the sideline crying like little bitches because they are in so much pain and are losing so badly. I want Ingram and Richardson to absolutely run through, over, and circles around those cock suckers on defense. I want Cody, McClain, Javy, and everybody else to just smash Tebow all game long, even if it’s a late hit. If you are winning by 60 in the 4th, keep throwing deep and make it worse!!!
You guys can’t stand UT, well I absolutely despise, hate, loathe, have to the urge kill every piece of shit GAYTURD fan and player out there. I wish there stadium would implode and the entire city of GAYnesville would just fall through the ground into a giant sink hole.
I can tell you this, every single one of us over at Tomahawk Nation is pulling for Bama next weekend.

we wouldn't want it any other way
but understand that it is not Tebow’s fault that he’s a media darling. He really is a good kid. He’s good for football. Even if he fails in the NFL ala Wuerffel, he’ll head up some charity cause (again ala Wuerffel) and help less fortunate people because that’s just the kind of person he is.
Tebows Fault
He plays a big part in it because he grants them access to all his home footage of him saving inmates and helping doctors do the snip. I remember hearing an interview of him saying he was a shy person. I was laughing so hard because there is no way he is shy. Yes he is a great athlete, but i think he, and the media, build this persona he has.
give tebow a break
he’s 22 year’s old. i didn’t have to deal with that kind of media exposure at age 22 (still haven’t) and i doubt i would have coped well with it. what will happen in nfl? who knows? what i do know is that he’s an outstanding young man, great athlete that we recruited, and one that if he were wearing crimson we’d be proud of.

Barnhart just said...
He thinks Stoops is taking the ND job. Tomorrow. They haven’t even fired Weis yet, I’d think they’ll at least wait until the body cools. Which, admittedly, will take awhile.
lol
stoops and meyer, guaranteed, are not going to take that job. all just media buildup. BK is probably 70%
Unless you're an LSU fan
in which case Saban is taking the job. Definitely. not that they’re bitter or anything, but he’s totally an opportunist and for some reason will definitely take the ND job

Some clown on Sportsline
Says that Meyer is going to get the Cowboys job. As in Dallas. One wonders if he’s ever actually seen Meyer’s offense. Yeah, that’s gonna work in the pros.
And then
he’ll take Tebow in the first round and they’ll win 15 super bowls and all the angels will get their wings and everyone in fairyland will be happy forever.
by billycthulhu on Nov 28, 2009 6:09 PM CST up reply actions 1 recs
I think his offense might actually work in the NFL, smart football has a good piece on why the pros run what the run, I know I’d love to see more variety in what they do on Sunday. It’ll probably be a lower profile team than Dallas that will be desperate enough to try it first (not to mention a team with a less expensive quarterback).

I think the NFL is done with hiring college coaches
at least for a while – after all of the last crop failed miserably, the more recent (and more successful) hires have all been long time NFL O or D coordinators.

And no school that wears uniform and helmet combinations like that is taken seriously. I can’t decide if they look more like UAB or Central Florida. At any event, they do not look at all like a major conference school.
How fitting

by billycthulhu on Nov 28, 2009 6:41 PM CST up reply actions
Nearly half of the teams in the conference have done something stupid to their uniforms this year:
Georgia (blackout)
USC (camo)
UT (black)
MSU (black we didn’t even notice)
LSU (this atrocity)
Did I miss anyone? Notice that Alabama and Florida don’t do this shit.

To Bama fans
Who here is coming to Atlanta for the SECCG???!?!
I have thoroughly enjoyed your site the past 2 years and want a pre-game toast with anybody from RBR who is in Atlanta on gameday…..
the beer is on me – details on tailgate location to follow……
I am exicted that this game now has Super Bowl status as it should. I consider this the rEAL BCSGC and the game in Pasadena is just a formality…..how many did A&M score on Texas?
Ha.
A suggestion.
Why don’t you make a FanPost about this? I’ll be in Atlanta, and I’ve never had the opportunity to meet RBR people either. It would be nice if we could all stop by and say hello. I’ll make a toast to your hospitality and to the Real National Championship Rematch.
deal-
We will be at the Bethuine Elementary lot. It is on Northside Drive right across from the World Congress Center (where the SEC fanfare is)…I’ll give yall better details to find us this week. The guys who tailgate next to us for Falcons games are Bama fans. So it will be a mixed crowd. I’d love the oportunity to meet some of yall in person.
Trying to scare up tix now...
we’re broke trying to buy this firm in HI, but this ticket is really all I want for Christmas, New Year’s, and a lifetime of birthdays.

Quick anecdote...
Went to the grocery store a little while ago with my Bama hat on, and THREE boogs made sure to remind me of how close the game was. Apparently we are now going to have to listen to their shit for the next year even though we won. I told one of them “most people consider almost winning losing, which you did.”

Me and my friends heard some awesome gems yesterday leaving the stadium
Boog: “You’re going to be Tim Tebow’s bitch next week.”
Me: “I can’t predict the future, but you’re Greg McElroy’s bitch tonight.”
Boog: “Hope y’all enjoy losing to Cincinnati or TCU in New Orleans”
My friend: “Hope you enjoy the VD you catch from a crack whore in Memphis.”

I always say...
that when you’re paid to talk incessantly, you’re going to say some stupid things. And if you either don’t notice it or don’t remember it when the game is over, it’s safe to say that the announcers did their job. It’s when the announcers manage to incite more ire than the team you’re rooting against that it rises to the level of ridiculous and unacceptable. And that’s about the nicest thing I can say about Verne/Gary.
