Bruin Feedback after Carroll's Classless Call
I doubt many of you watched the USC and UCLA game last night, but if you missed it Pete Carroll made one of the most classless calls I've ever seen. Up 21-7 with about 50 seconds remaining, USC took a knee on first down. Rick Neuheisel then called timeout, which caused the Coliseum fans to boo. Pete Carroll then called for a Play Action Pass on second down. UCLA was shocked by the call and the throw went for a long touchdown. Anyway, check out the link to Bruin Nation to see their reaction.

If you want to see some more crap
Check out this garbage from the L.A. Times.
MATRIX: Bennett, I thought you were--
BENNETT: Dead? You thought wrong. Ever since you had me thrown out of the unit, I've been waiting to pay you back. Do you know what today is, Matrix? Payday.
that was horsesh** too...
you can’t draw that conclusion, and you can’t defend Carroll’s classlessness by saying it was Neuheisel’s fault. Ridiculous yellow, hack journalism from Plaschke (imagine that).

Not that it will do any good or even be read but I sent that moron an email, it reads
This is not from a UCLA fan. I could not care less about UCLA. I am a BAMA fan and I echo thoughts of anyone outside the USC fanbase. If Carroll kept taking knees, UCLA would have gotten the ball back with probably 30 seconds left, nearly impossible that they would have been able tie the game up, nearly. If Carroll wanted to do it different, since they were gonna take timeouts, run some draws and maybe try for a first down. That would have made it a moot point. Instead, he goes for the classless way to end the game and then celebrates like he just won the BCS title. You sir have you head so far up Pete’s ass, you cannot be considered a reasonable sports journalist. Please turn in your press credentials at the nearest Goodwill location. I am sure many homeless would do a better job.

definitely fodder for the meltdown thread
and i agree with everything they’re saying

The timeout call is what did it.
UCLA doesnt call time out, USC would have downed it again.
See Alabama vs. Kentucky this year. We were content to run the clock out, but UK kept stacking the box and calling timeouts, so we went for a fake FG to keep the ball.
I can't really say which side I'm on...
I can see how UCLA calling time would prompt a coach to run a play, but I can also see how UCLA can’t NOT call TO. I know they needed two scores and the game was effectively over, but you don’t just give up and let time expire if you can stop the clock. That tells your players you don’t believe in them.

Yeah, but we weren't deliberately trying to score a TD
USuC didn’t try to run out the clock with this. Pete Carroll had them throw a play action pass and then led his team as they giggled, pointed, and taunted UCLA. Why couldn’t they just run the ball or go for a first down?
I think there’s a difference between killing clock and going up top for a long pass.

Very true...
I admit I cut the game off at halftime so I didn’t see the play, but throwing for the EZ and trying to score just for spite is weak sauce. If Carroll had just come back out and tried for a first down I’d be on his side, but throwing and trying to score is a different story.

Watch Carroll bounce up and down like he just won the NC. And then his smug, grinning players continuing to taunt. This is frankly the worst sort of bullsh** and “sportsmanship”.

Matt Barkley looks like such a douche
when he mouths “Scoreboard” with a grin on his face. Number 91 for USC needs to get knocked on his ass for sticking his tongue out and bobbing his head.

Better yet...
…as his head is bobbing, catch him one under the chin. When he bites his tongue off, maybe he will STFU.

USC...
…used to be a class program, but that was 20-30 years ago. This weak-minded immaturity used to reside only in Miami or whatever program Barry Switzer was running. I pray that Alabama always remains above such widespread tacky me-first misbehavior…and I hope UCLA pays ’em back soon with a loss.

I have to stick up for him here.
I loved the call. And I don’t remember anyone calling Saban classless when we were throwing to the endzone in last year’s Iron Bowl with a 29-0 lead late in the game.
If you’re going to call timeouts to extend the game, you shouldn’t bitch when the other team runs a play.
What you're seeing is team spirit. It's like the Holy Spirit, but more powerful.

Well, for one, that Auburn TD was with our whole 2nd string in, and we didnt start celebrating like some app. state vs michigan monumental upset. Carroll’s reaction definitely doesn’t help his case.

Don't get me wrong...
…I don’t give two squirts of pee about the call…it’s the garbage reactions you see on the sideline after the TD that make my skin crawl….
