trying to put together the bottom has to suck
There aren’t 25 decent teams this year. And, for the top half, no probs. TCU deserves to jump us, and UF looks like #1 for the first time since the Troy game.

The bottom...
…is hard to fill. Teams that I was tempted to throw in just ‘cause: Troy, MTSU, Temple, Stanford (whom I may go back and rank ahead of Northwestern, but I hate to drop them since they didn’t lose), Rutgers, Boston College, Mizzou, Texas Tech, Ohio, Utah (again, think I might throw them in anyway), and USC.
Stanford and Utah probably have the best reasons to be in, but Stanford is a four loss team now and I already have two in there (NW and Navy) and Utah….should probably be in there, but who to drop?

Navy
Temple forfeits their right to ranking b/c of the loss to Ohio. MTSU is interesting; a buzzsaw in a bad conference (can same the same about Troy). Stanford is probably the best of the four-losses, with NW a close second. But, Utah hasn’t beaten a soul. Literally, not one decent pelt can they claim. Rutgers is playing very good ball to end the season, too.

Rutgers...
I had them ranked up until last week (they lost to Syracuse, after all).

I dont think TCU should be ranked this high..
…they play inferior teams each week. Auburn is much tougher competition.

TCU can play with anyone
and I stand by that statement. On a neutral field, I’d take the Frogs over the ’Horns.

I dont agree...
….they had a decent win over Clemson (so did South Carolina). They had a nice win over BYU (So did Florida State). They had nice win over Utah…Utah lost many many key players from last season and arent the same Utah team. All that being said, I do respect TCU on how they have dismantled everyone they have played. However, since TCU wants to be a “big boy”, I say they play a big boy schedule. TCU in the SEC….no way they go undefeated playing quality opponents week in and week out.

But look at the body of work
Clemson and BYU were on the road; they also thumped VA on the road; handed SMU, Wyo. and SDSU their worst losses of the season, obliterated Utah, won in the midnight ice storm at Air Force, and otherwise did what you want them to do with that schedule: destroy it. Their scheduling wasn’t light: They scheduled TWO BCS teams OOC, and on the road; they played their old SWC conference rival, and had the same number of 1-AAs as us.
I promise, TCU wants to be upwardly mobile. They left the WAC for CUSA, and from there to the MWC. What else can they do?

I dream of a day...
…when Boise joins the MWC and they get the Big East’s (or hell, at this point the ACC’s) Automatic BCS bid.

The Big East...
…has the third best winning percentage in BCS bowls of the BCS conferences. ACC is definitely who needs to go if it’s to be any of the current crop. I don’t see a problem with adding a 7th auto qualifier though.

a 7th auto-bid...
….would be nice, but you know we’d still be forced to watch some 2 or 3 loss Big Ten team crap themselves as an at large.

As in Penn St
losing to the only decent teams they’ve played and possibly squeezing BSU out of a bid?

They've had a great year...
…they have had a few quality wins, but can you honestly say they’ve played a tougher schedule than Alabama and deserve to be ranked higher? I say no way…

Gimme a break...
…every week I’ve left the ballot up for several hours and made adjustments according to y’all’s arguments, but the one week where all I get is “TCU is too high” and decide to stick with what I’ve got I get a “this is rigged!” comment like two minutes later. Hate all of you.

that’s funny. I was assuming you were pulling one of those patented Bill Simmons reverse jinxes by dropping Alabama below Florida and TCU but I judging by your comments you really think they’re that good. TCU plays great defense and has come a long way offensively, but we’ll never know how good they are (unless Texas loses to Nebraska, in which case I guess both the greater “we” and the immediate “we” would find out how good they are). I guess I have no problem with TCU over Alabama… because I think the top four could all be 1(a) through 1(d). That being said I think Alabama or Florida would beat TCU; then again, I thought that about Utah and we saw how that turned out…

I think TCU could beat anybody in a bowl game/BSCCG scenario
I just doubt they could come through the SEC unscathed like BAMA and UF have done.

ahahaha
TCU??? What a joke…they couldn’t beat anybody worth a damn. These Cinderella teams are getting on my last nerve. Play a real schedule and call me back…I could name you at least 8-10 teams in the SEC alone that could clobber them. Can’t wait until they get Hawaii’d in whatever bowl game this year.

please tell me this is tongue-in-cheek?

Read what I wrote above...
…I do doubt they would make it undefeated through a SEC schedule but they could beat any of the three teams above them in a one game scenario with a month to prepare.

Thank you - well said.
….people do not understand its the “accumulation effect” that wears on teams… Anyone can get up for one or two tough games a season. Throw 7-8 tough games in the schedule and see how it effects them…

Yeah right.
Not a chance TCU could hang with the likes of Bama, UF, or Texas. LMAO you should do stand-up.
by clockster on Nov 30, 2009 1:23 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
They easily could "hang" with the top three...

As long as they keep winning...
…they’re going to keep getting invited.
Utah has beaten Alabama and Pitt.
Boise beat Oklahoma.
Yeah, Hawai’i got waxed, but the other three wins more than compensates for that.
They’re aren’t going away until teams start beating them.
by Nico2.0 on Nov 30, 2009 12:20 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
Well,
Tell them to actually play somebody so they won’t keep winning and won’t get invited. I’m getting tired of these nobodies with their Division 3 schedules thinking they matter because they’re undefeated against shit teams.
Teams WILL start beating them, when the TEAMS THAT MATTER actually play them.

Defending Nat'l champs OU played them...
at home…and lost. And that TCU team was in no way as scary as this one.
Some teams do play good ball outside of the BCS 6. Lest you need some reminding, Utah came out of the tunnel last year like a group of angry hornets and outworked, outhit, outhustled and outcoached us…it was 20 minutes of as thorough an ass-whipping we’ve taken since Scnelly’s L’ville team.

and. they did something with their OOC that the Big Three didn't do...
they scheduled two BCS OOC games, on the road. What else do you want them to do? They are in the conference they are in, despite constantly moving upwards in that regard, and are thrashing everyone they play.
They’ve earned their BCS bid. And, don’t be surprised if/when they kick the hell out of the BCS at large.
